Does anyone know whether the clutch pack from the 06's are a straight fit for earlier machines? I need a new pack for my 04 but i'm sure i read that the 06 clutches were less fussy about the width of the pack and gave less noise.

My mate's just cooked his 280 '05 clutch, he was told that only the 04 style clutch pack was available now..so he ordered it,fitted it and now the clutch is bloody heavy(just like all the pre '05 pros that I have ridden).

So build up the muscles in your left hand.

Ah! That's a bugger. I found the quote on the TMX bike test:-

"Thicker clutch diaphram spring. The new spring (from 1.5mm to 1.7mm) allows more wear tolerance of the clutch plates without it slipping. Clutch pack height is now not quite as important as before."

Waiting to hear back from GG UK as to what they recommend.

Just heard back from GG UK and they are only supplied with one type now so that makes it a bit easier.

Will compare part numbers when it arrives if anyone is interested.

Hmmm maybe thats why my clutch is very heavy..because they put a 04 clutch in mine before i got it. Cant you get an 06 or 05 clutch then ?

i replaced all of the plates in my 05 gasgas clutch and it was at first heavy but this was due to air in the system, and after i bled it it was fine

Air in the system makes it a lot different to what a heavy clutch is i would say it doesnt work properly with air in the system.

GGUK didn't say what year the clutch packs were from just that they were only being sent (from Spain i presume) one type at present. I'll see if i can work out the year when it arrives.

Ok cheers mate , you would have thought though they would have spares for 05 and 06 really.

I have just orded at new clutch for my TXT280 from 05. They are sending me a 06 clutch. The 06 clutch have the same spairpart number as the 05!

How much was that ? Is it easy to fit a new one yourself ?

Well this is my first change of a clutch on a bike with a hydralic activated clutch. The local dealer told me that the water need to get of and that I don't need to take the clutch fluid out. My bike is a TXT280 from 05.

So I don't need to empty the bike for water and clutch oil?

Reading on this topic it seems that everybody has problems with the clutch fluid when they change the clutch... why? if they don't need to empty the bike for clutch fluid.
