This throttle is to light, it almost feels like there is no spring in the carb. I have had a couple of other riders feel how light the throttle is and they all say the same, wow that is realy light.

My throttle on my bike feels realy light almost no resistance at all. So my question is can you get a heavier spring to go in the carb. I have tried stretching the spring but didn't make much difference.

Changed the gearbox oil to some Putoline Nano 75w has transformed the clutch action on the bike, also the 10/42 gearing is perfect. Done some nice big hill climbs yesterday and plodded about for about 2.5 hours. The bike was perfect nice and smooth but plenty of power when needed glad i got one.

The play is on the shaft itself, I think it will need a new bearing, engine strip I guess to change the bearing.
-
Stripped the clutch on the Evo its got up and down play on the main shaft is the bearing knackered or is this normal.
-
It does have a 10 tooth front on it, and a 42 on the rear is this correct.

Had a go on the bike today, and i am glad to say i am still alive. Put a slow action throttle on it and it is just perfect for me power wise. only problem with it is the clutch is very noisey when engaged. I also noticed i have to use the clutch a bit more when going realy slow compared to my rev3 250.

Well I have taken the plunge and got a 2014 Evo 300, I hope I have made the right choice. Give me the good and bad points on them.
-
It is definatley a 2001 model, I had a brand new one back in the day, not sure on cc but probably a 250/270

Thinking of buying a Evo 250 are there any years to avoid.

I agree the Montesa 315 is a cracking bike that's why i was going to get one. I am only going on what the Honda dealer told me,he said the piston ring problem has only started being a problem in the last few months. He also said something about Honda only make spares until 10 years after the new models are launched. If I can find out for sure there is no problem with parts, I will buy one as I am looking for another bike for my son.

I would steer away from Montesa 315 as they are a very good bike but spares are getting hard to find, I was going to get one so i rang a Honda dealer just to ask about spares, he told me that piston rings are no longer available for them, they have 3 rings and the top ring is a special one that was only made for that engine and is no longer available. He advised me to get a Beta,Sherco,or Gas Gas as parts for these bikes are still available. I got a very good condition road reg 2007 Beta 250 Rev3 for £1500 its ideal for what I want.

Had a good day today, got 10 sections at the little place I went to practice had a good ride on all of them, its ideal for someone who has not ridden in years..

Going for a play again tomorrow, think i may have the trials bug back.
