i have been offered a fantic 303 mono shock in need of a bit of tlc.i dont have a lot of experience of trials bikes having come from a mx background,so was just looking for some advice on things such as:how much should i realistically pay for the bike bearing in mind it is fairly rough but all in one piece.what is the availability of spare parts both engine and bodywork and are they regarded as being expensive bikes to refurbish, and finally is or was the bike good enough in its day to be worth the trouble.sorry for all the dopy questions but if you dont ask you never know.thanks.

They were a competive bike back in their day,but that was nearly 20 years ago.Have a good critical look over it,and see what it rides like and see what needs replacing.Pems of rochdale in Lanca shire used to stock the bits for them,I don't know if they still do.My gut feeling is it will be an expensive moneypit with some bits no longer available.I don't know your budget, but I would look around for an early(1998 onwards) montesa 315,which are still competive and are very well made with good spares availability and no weak points.Good luck

300 quid sounds about right but beware an engine rebulid will eat another 500! Bill Pye has lots of spares, I have a few too!!! ;-)
if the engine is sound, try it. i´ll give you your money back and put the engine in a 300 or 240 frame!
