I always used NGK. stock should have been bp7es, but we always ran bp5es at altidude. You might remove the flywheel cover.(right hand side) And check too see if the flywheel has any play. The main bearings where always a culprit of timing issues.

Have ridden a few of these in my time.
The problem is if you knock the fly wheel cover on a rock, it moves & causes the stator to rub on the fly wheel. This over heats the stator & damages the windings.
So you have a spark until it heats up, then loses the spark. Only cure is to replace the stator or have it repaired.
Hope this helps you.

What colour did the plugs have when they came out? If they are wet and black looking, there is a fouling issue which may be caused by Air filter or Carb. Always make sure you are using the correct plug, 2 strokes last seconds with the wrong one fitted! It is really important. Check it out and let us know.

it sounds like the stator requires a rewind , i had this problem check out the other threads on bike not starting etc (the cost of a rewind is about £75 )
