I bought a basket case Montesa 247 Cota today. Frame and motor number is 21M2105. How can I find out what year it is? It is missing the body work and I need to know what body work to get.
Thanks,
Spencer Gaydon

I have of few old 247's where is the gear shift? And what do you mean by where is the body work?

It shifts on the right. It was missing the bodywork (tank and seat combo) when I got it. I know that there were several versions with the 21M prefix.
Thanks,

Best guess on the production date is June 1970.
Here's a photo of what it should look like, this being a '72 the only real difference is the rear shocks. Yours should have chome covers over the tops.

Hello Spencer, I also have a Montesa Cota 247 that I would like to restore. it is almost a complete bike minus the clutch lever, cables and front fender. I am located in Clovis, NM and I come to Lubbock often. Have you had any luck finding someone in Lubbock who works on Montesa?? Let me know if you find out anything please. Have a great day!
