Every one I know that had a 315 in the 90s broke the short rear spokes occasionally. The later models don't seem to do this, even with four fewer spokes. Can anyone tell me what changed and when? I have an opportunity to buy a used wheel from a 98, I don't care that it's four spokes heavier but I'd rather not break spokes.

the tooling used to bend the short spoke was changed so that a smooth bend was produced and that was an improvement but the real improvement was the change from Akront rims to D.I.D.
