The first two rounds of the 2011 Canadian National Championships, sanctioned by WTC, were completed at Summerland in British Columbia on May 21 & 22, 2011. A total of 65 competitors took part in the weekend's activities, with a third of them from outside of British Columbia, lending a truly national flavour to the two trials. The results leave Thomas Cordner of Victoria, BC in the lead with a margin of just one championship point over Jonathan English of Foxboro, Ontario. The $100 daily prizes for lowest loop scores in the Champ class were won by Jonathan English on Saturday and Thomas Cordner on Sunday. Dave Rhodes did a great job organizing the event, with the scores indicating that the sections were challenging but quite possible. The trial was really a great success, in terms of the wonderful support from Canadian trials enthusiasts, and the quality of the trial itself. The final two rounds of this year's national championships will take place at Morin Heights, Quebec on July 16 & 17. Followers of trials in Canada look forward to the final show-down in La Belle Province in July.

The final two rounds of the Canadian National Trials Championship will take place at Morin Heights Ski Resort in Quebec on July 16 & 17, 2011. It's a great location, in the Laurentian Mountains north-east of Montreal. The championship is still wide open, so Canadian trials enthusiasts are looking forward to a great weekend in the mountains of Quebec.

The final results of the WTC Canadian Trials Championship are now up on Trials Canada, and show that the series was once again very successful with a good turn out of riders at all 4 events. - Congratulations to Jon English, who won the Champ class. and not just by “Turning up” - He rode extremely well in Summerland to post two runner up spots. then took the Quebec rounds very easily.

All the other classes, were won by Western riders, showing that the level of ability is maybe a touch higher, or the longer season to be an advantage. - Whatever the reason, there is no doubt that competing against other riders on a National scale, can only be good for the sport.

It has also been a very good season for the younger riders - Matt Fracy has made a big impact, winning the Advanced class, while Tanner Nordin took the Intermediate class by winning both rounds in Summerland - we are not sure why there was no Inter class in Quebec, but the WTC will certainly be taking a good look at the class structure for 2012, in order to come up with a system that is fair for all riders, whether you live in Halifax or Victoria.
