Montesa 4RT Idle Speed with Induction Tach

Recommended Posts

with my single cylinder close proximity tachometer I have to set the rpm to 900/950 to achieve the proper idle of 1800/1850 . this has led me to think its only firing on the power stroke somehow

Tinytach set to mode 3 (03) with engine off.  Run for at least 10 mins.  Set idle rpm with the fan not running.

Make sure the throttle is fully at rest.   To raise rpm - screw counter-clockwise on the adjuster.

This would indicate that the 4RT fires every-other crankshaft revolution.
