  1. I have an identical problem with a 76 Cota 348 I've been banging my head with DVLA/ Sandfords/ VMCC for 12weeks now I think I shall give up very soon My insurance company have cancelled my insurance as its taken more than 30days and they won't insure on frame number longer than that. The system is so slow it has stopped ! Its quicker to sell my bike I'm so P*****d off with them all So Good Luck
  2. Welcome to the madness from a member that used to live in Sydling St Nicolas I was a Trout Farmer in the late 70's / early 80's and enjoyed an old Bultaco 250 (DLG 49F) long gone. I'm in the same dilemma as yourself and am probably going to sell my KTM 990 Adv for the same reasons! I have purchased a nice Montesa. I can tell you it is the way forward. But be ready to kick start again! (For that reason I didn't go the Bultaco route as left leg kicking is a no no for me ( lol)) Plenty of good bikes around if you want to go back to your youth OR, Try a Beta Alp 200 with a nice electric leg, these are very underrated bikes Good luck Magwa
  3. Cheers Yes I am a member of VMCC ( since 1980) Any dating certificate has to be acceptable to DVLA......... Or anybody could just type their own up A work in progress Anyway I have now sourced a full lighting kit and all the wiring loom ( new old stock) off a different model but it will adapt and it comes with a speedo and cable So I have two speedo's now !! I'll update the thread as progress is made
  4. Daytime MOT requirements Rear Number Plate Rear Red Reflector Speedometer Horn I'm just doing the same for my Montesa I'll PM you re a Clymer Manual for a Bultaco Good Luck Magwa
  5. Err DVLA no help...........why am I not surprised ?
  6. Well DVLA ( not registered) Jim Sandifords used to do dating letters ( Importers) BUT can no longer do letters as due to "BOLOTICs! between Honda ( who own Montesa)& Sandifords. So the importer with all the details cannot issue dating letters on bikes they supplied ???? So whatever the new "Q" plate is is the only way to register the bike Unless somebody here can point me in the right direction ? Cheers Magwa
  7. See E bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261498944517?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I'm ordering one for my Monty. I do have a Clymer Bultaco manual somewhere in a box ( havn't found it since my housemove but they are by far the best manuals) Good luck Magwa
  8. Thanks At present I'm on E bay and various forums sourcing the "missing" bits So far so good But as its Bank Holiday weekend I'm going to have a little "play" with the bike today ( private land) and see how easy it is to fall off after 20yrs away ! Then I have to get a dating letter so I can register the bike ( Jim Sandifords ??) unless anybody can point me in the right direction Cheers Magwa
  9. Well, I added fuel and gave the bike a quick ride to check it all out! I'm H A P P Y with it Oh I took a picture in daylight ( see below)
  10. Hello, As a recycled teenager at 59yrs I have plunged back into trials bike ownership after 20yrs away. My last bikes were 1967 Bultaco Sherpa (DLG 49F I wonder if it still exists?),1974 Bultaco 350 Sherpa ( on a Q plate) and a Yamaha TY175 special ( ex Steve Goode from Welshpool) So Yesterday I purchased off EBAY a VERY nice 1976 Malcom Rathmell 348 Replica with lots of recent restoration work. I need to get a speedo ( already ordered) a rear reflector a rear number plate & a horn & get her registered (in due course)................... That will give me a few jobs to do over the next few weeks I have local clubs so will be joining in the near future BUT must be careful as after serious shoulder injury 20yrs ago ( the reason I quit) I do not want to be back in surgery again. So gentle "Grey Beards" trials will suit me (or even a bit of Marshalling!) lol Magwa
