I went to an ACU training day today for National CofC and Stewards, run by John Collins. I've not met John before, but he was a breath of fresh air. The ACU get a good slagging whenever the opportunity arises (sometimes unfairly), so I thought I'd try and balance the books a little. Probably the first person I've met from the ACU who I would be happy to have represent me at any ACU meeting. It's good to know that someone with such a grip of reality is involved at the higher levels within the ACU. This is not to say that others aren't, but if you believed any of the negative press that the ACU receive, you may develop a tainted view. Good little days course anyway if a…

Entered a trial via the ACU portal. Now, at least a week later it says that my entry is not valid, due to my not having a rider number. Never been asked for this before. Spent ages on the website, trying to discover how to do this, but with no luck. Anyone know how to do this?

I have 2011 gas gas 280 with tech forks, fork seals leaking, removed forks and internals tried fitting new seals. New seals will not seat properly as I don’t seem to be able to get the bush to go back into the fork leg. Having spoke with various people and damaging 3 sets of seals on what should be a fairly straight forward job, does anyone on here have any advise/come across and similar issues ?

  6. Started by Tr1AL,

Adam Raga has made his feelings clear about losing his TRS seat to a cheaper Pilot for the coming 2024 season of the WTC with his new single Lost on you. The message seems to be loud and clear to former mentor and friend Jordi Tarres that he is not very impressed with his former employers choices. https://youtu.be/wDjeBNv6ip0?feature=shared

  7. Started by Tr1AL,

If you do not know yet then Raga has signed to ride a SHERCO.

  8. Started by cota kid,

Instead of thinking isn't Raga's Christmas message nice I am left thinking he looks a right tool dressed up as a King. I think the double winning of the indoor and outdoor WTC has gone to his head. Any ideas for what he will be dressed as on next years card? The widow tw**ky or Dick Whittington perhaps. Rumour has it he is appearing with the Krankies in Christmas Panto. :santawink:

How can I liven up a dead rear end? ...that doesn't sound good (resist, as I'm doing right now, with dirty responses). My rear end suspension is too soft on my 06 Montesa 4rt. How much extra spring can you get from tightening the spanner nut? 2 turns? My hand adjuster knob makes no difference. I have yet to try the spanner as I can't find a tool to turn it. ALSO, I see a nip for adding nitrogen. Does anyone ever re-fill their nitrogen? Do bikes lose their nitrogen after time and is the result that it goes soft? I've never understood what a suspension "re-build" consists of. I'm new at this so thanks in advance.

  14. Started by nuts,

I was going to put this under the “if you were the engineer” heading, but my last response there was getting a bit lengthy already and I want to get myself into the rank of “advanced member” as quickly as possible so I can enjoy all the rights, honor, and privileges duly awarded members of that rank. Therefore I decided to start a new thread. There’s been a little banter about a programmable ignition. This is a cool thing, but is probably something only practical for very highly skilled riders. I can see myself trying to re-map the advance curve only to thoroughly honk up the performance of my bike. I suppose the manufacturer could provide 3 or 4 selectable pre-progr…

Putting my bike back together and unsure how much slack to have in the chain. Any easy way to get it right? Also in the picture is the tensioner bolt, i took the picture before taking it all apart. That's when I noticed that the chain rubs the bolt. Should there be a gap? Cheers Richard

  16. Started by charliechitlins,

OK...how do you guys/gals do this? Back in days of yore, we could either sight down the chain or spin the wheel and make sure the sprocket was centered in the chain. But now that there's so much slack and the chain is rubbing on wear blocks and tensioners, this doesn't work anymore. I wish I thought that everything was so perfectly manufactured that I could just line up the little numbers on the snails, but...well...you know.

What would you recomend as a decent 2nd hand beginers bike? I'm 31, and about 15st, reasonably strong but never ridden a motorbike bike before, been thinking about it for ages and decided to give it a go. used to do bmx to a decent level years ago so should be ok with balance etc so hopefully will pick up the basics pretty easy (famous last words) Budget of around £1000, idealy less than this if possible as seen some bikes on ebay going pretty cheap But if this is only gonna get me a piece of junk then I can spend more if I have to, just dont want to spend £££££'s and then trash it, lol Based in wolverhampton so if anyone round here knows any decent spots to learn pl…

  19. Started by on it,

Was at a trial today and the topic of youth trials and training came up, My feeling is to much effort is put into the youth riders training days half price enterys etc .Theres source of riders the new adults are just forgot about, its all about the youth and before you say "we need the youth for the future of the sport" .Think on this if they are youths now, how long before they can do the running of clubs and trials ? What we need is people NOW not in 10-15years time so is the youth really the future of the sport or is it the new adult riders ? and how long will adults be happy to off set the cost of someones child adults £15 youth £5

Are there any adults out there riding a new(ish) 125? Just looking at getting a new bike and am curious about this new breed of more powerful 125's.... About 10 odd years ago, I switched from a 270 gasser to one of the 160's and had great fun with it!! It's been about 3 years since I've been out and from what I can gather the 07/08 125's are supposed to be more a more reasonable adult ride nowadays?? Any opinions or experience?
