Where do people get ther service kits for the 4rt please? Is £80/£120 about right for a service kit? Could someone point me in the best place to get it from around the northwest please

Has anybody had any performance issues susing the E10 fuel? My bike seems to lack the power it has when on e5 and also ticks over slot higher than normal? I've turned down the rev nut but it's still high and if I turn down anymore it won't start. Just curious if anybody else is having the same issues

  3. Gday Mates, Hoping for a bit of advice on my situation. My 2006 Montesa 4rt has been at the Honda dealer for 9 months now. They replaced the cylinder head way back and since they are waiting on a final part (cover tappet). Simple part that covers the adjust holes. I call once a month maybe and they give the same answer. They have the part on order, but it's out of stock and nobody has a clue when it might be available. I'm wondering if they even make them anymore or how to find out. Any advice. I'm in the US and don't know too many riders. Does Honda make Montesa make parts anymore? THANK YOU!

This may seem a daft question…. Planning on going to a trial for the first time tomorrow at Oxford Ixion just to check it out and learn before taking the newly purchased bike. But I have no idea how long it’s likely to go on for! Starts at 10.30, are they usually an all day thing or a lunchtime finish thing? And do you take food and drink or is there usually a burger van or something? Sorry if this seems an odd question but I can’t find out any info and the Wife wants to know roughly what time I’ll be back! And as shown, I really haven’t got a clue what to expect! 😆

Hi Folks, Just looking for an easy solution to this problem if there is one. How much pressure is it safe to use to get a new trial tyre onto the rim? Rear tyre, tube fitted due to air leaking at the spokes even though a seal is fitted, lots of soapy water used. Used 70lb of pressure but last bit of the tyre still won't pop onto the rim properly. Tries valve out and in, and tried using the rubbery bead seal thing that should pop out when the tyre is on. Plan B will be to refit the old tyre if I can't figure it out! Thanks Alan

So… After much info gathering and helpful advice from you lovely lot on here, as of today I am the proud owner of a really nice 2008 Beta Rev 250. Hardly a mark on it, comparatively speaking, don’t even know if it has ever been trialled in earnest, it certainly hasn’t by the last owner. I’ve been in touch with my nearest club (Oxford Ixion) through their Facebook group to enquire about how to get going having never ‘done’ trials before, at least not properly. The guy I’ve been in touch with suggested I just enter the trial they have next Sunday via the ACU website and just turn up and do the easy route. Thing is, I have nowhere to practice prior to then and…

Good Evening I’m in the process of getting into trials and have been sussing out what clobber I need and working out costs. Boots, thinking of Forma Boulders, I used to have Forma Raptor MX boots and liked their fit. Helmet, well I wasn’t going to go overboard initially, maybe a Wolf Sport or Spada cheapie to get going with. What I’m wondering about is trousers - I’m not bonkers about spending over £100 on a pair of skintight multi-coloured leggings really, not yet at least but that’s what comes up when I search ‘trials pants/trousers’. I’d like some knee protection as well which they don’t look like they have generally, my knees aren’t great and I would like to pro…

I couldn’t find a thread for LDTs. Just looking for some very basic advice as I am going to do a couple next year (incl. Lands End). I don’t have a bike for this yet but I am thinking of either a DT175, XL125 or XT250. Anyone done the Lands End? Any views on bike choice (late seventies/early eighties Japanese is the brief)? Nb. I have looked at Yamaha Serows, Beta Alps etc but like the idea of an older bike. And any other tips etc more than welcomed!

Hi All, When cleaning the rear brake (2021 braktec) and I've clearly got some air in the system when pushing the brake pots\pistons back in as the brake now doesn't work at all. I've taken the brake off the bike, reverse bled (several times to make sure all the air is out, hung the reservoir up high, tapped the line etc) but now only one pot\piston comes out when I put the brake on (off the bike still). I assume that I've unaligned the pot\piston when pushing it back in, and that's why it's stuck. I also assume the solution is to take the caliper apart, pull the pot out, put it back in straight and re-bleed? Any tips or idea…

I come from a skiing background where ACL injuries have been common. Years ago there was research done into the specific mechanisms that caused the injuries and out of that some falling techniques to reduce the risk. Similarly snowboarding has a high incidence of wrist fractures and shoulder dislocations, and people are taught (or should be) specific falling techniques to minimise the risk. What are the common trials injuries, and are there techniques or practices that can reduce the chance of injuring yourself? I'm guessing ankle injuries are probably fairly common? Are ACL injuries common? Shoulders? Clavicle? Shoulder AC joints? Facial injuries?

I'm very very new to Trials riding. Have about 2 hours of riding in so far on a 2006 GasGas TXT Pro 280 I just bought. I have a lot of MTB experience and a decent amount of motorcycle experience (road MC only). Thought these two skillsets would just make Trials riding a breeze. Not so. Anyway, I'm just having an issue wheelying or rather just getting the front tire up. I can do it but I catch a lot of speed and/or wheelie out backwards and send the bike into the bush. I know I should be covering the rear brake to get the front down when this happens. My problem is though, if I have my foot over the rear brake, when I go to load the suspension to prepare for getting t…

  18. Hello. I'm new to trials and can say that I'm a proud owner of a 2013 Beta Evo Factory 250! I love everything about the bike but there's only one thing that's causing an issue, it doesn't have a light/ mapping switch. I can only assume that the switch had been broken and taken off, (after all, they seem to be in a very vulnerable spot). Anyway, with my situation, I could really do with the headlight working again. The wiring at the front seems connected properly so I took the main body off and it seems like there is a loose 4-pin and 2-pin connection. Am I right in assuming that the 2-pin connection is for the brake/ rear bulb? I'm not worried about that bulb as the bulb …

  19. Started by NoTraction,

Good Evening folks, I’m looking to get into trials as mentioned in other posts and am currently bike shopping. Initially I was looking for a twin shock as it reminded me of my youth and an old TY I once had. But, to be honest, the prices are a bit off putting and I have a budget to stick to so had decided to find the best Beta 200 or 250 I can for what I want to spend. But I keep finding myself attracted to the air cooled monos, cheaper than twinshocks generally, a bit more up to date I guess but with a bit more ‘soul appeal’ than some of the modern iron. I’m a sucker for a classic bike and don’t mind a bit of tinkering. Would there be any disadvantages to …

  20. Started by Backerlee,

Good afternoon all. It's probably been covered somewhere on here but I can't find it, so beta 300ss with grimeca brakes. Back brake started locking after 10 mins I've greased everything up and changed the pads but the retaining clip is missing ( I'm assuming it should have 1) could this be my problem and where would I get 1 if so I've looked everywhere online and had no joy. Thanks
