as much as i liked last years 4rt ,i think the new black frame version looks awful,is it just me or is this now really that bad. bring back the silver frame.i personally think a plastics colour change would have being just fine, pus easy to swap if you hate it.

Just out of curiosity I've just done a fairly quick internet search for this year's trials bike prices. To make it a bit less complicated I searched only for 250cc (ish) models. Here's what I found: Beta 2T £5495 (4T 300cc £5795), GasGas £5450, TRS £5399, Montesa 260 4RT £5699 (Cota 300 £5999), Montesa Repsol £6699, Sherco £5495, Scorpa £5099 (but also £6125 which is a bit confusing - might be shome mishtake on my part), Vertigo Camo £6295, Vertigo Ice Hell £6995. During this search I discovered that Ossa is no more. Another disappointment was the disappearance of the 'new' Greeves trials bike. Doh! - I'm always the last to know these things. Finger on the pulse…

My wife is planning a family trip to London, with a side trip to Edinburgh, in April. The Edinburgh journey will be to visit friends and will only last a few days. I don't imagine I'll have too much **free** time, but was wondering if there's anything trials related in the vicinity of either of these two locations that I ought to see. I'd be happy with just walking into a m/c shop that sold trials gear to take a break from the usual sightseeing.

Now it may be us lucky southerners or that in MK there is loads of boy racers but in my local BP garage they have started selling "ultimate 102". basically a "high octasne fuel suitable for track use", is it available countrywide or are we just lucky? Has anyone used it?

Can anyone recommend a company who will ultrasonically clean a carb, preferably in the North Yorkshire area? Alternatively, any recommendations for cleaning a carb from a bike that's been stood unused for 3+ years and is completed gummed up (the interior is coated with stuff that's almost like limescale)?

Spray the inside of your airbox with some of that really sticky filter oil. If dirt gets past your filter, it has a good chance of getting stuck to the airbox instead of getting in the carb.

This could be an anomaly, but I don't think so... Recently, while trying to remove an AJP master cylinder for the first time in several years, the bolts that clamp it to the bars were seized in. This could either be from moisture, or from corrosion caused by the two different metals. Either way, they'll all get anti-seize from now on.

  12. Where are you in the learning curve? I liked this idea when I was teaching......When I assessed my students I would ask myself, are they: 1. Unconsciously incompetent? 2. Consciously incompetent? 3. Consciously competent? 4. Unconsciously competent? or, 1. I am unaware of what I need to know (or how to do it). 2. I am aware what I need to know, (but struggle to do it) 3. I can do it if I think about it 4. I can do it without thinking I just thought I would share that thought... hope someone enjoys. Cheers Graham

This is a new situation for me and for Trials Central and has been a difficult one to deal with which has left me with an extremely sour taste regarding my involvement with the sport. Recently a UK-based dealer was discovered hiding in these forums under a false name pretending to be a satisfied customer and directing people to his own business. By pretending to be a third party he was falsifying recommendations which is in my opinion, fraudulent behaviour. However, it was dealt with and the dealer was banned from the forums. I said I would not name the dealer involved and that was fine at the time as I thought a lesson had been learned. However, that dealer must think …

I've noticed that Amazon has unicycles for sale for about $100 delivered. I'm wondering if learning to ride one of things would help with overall balance - think balancing on the rear wheel - or if it would actually teach some bad habits that would confuse your muscle-memory for trials? Anyone have any experience and care to comment?

I sometimes use my Sherco on the trail loop at the local off road centre and it's brilliant through the woods and over all the different terrain but on the sections across the moors I think a small seat would be handy. I've seen this one on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GAS-GAS-SHERCO-BETA-Gas Gas-SCORPA-TXT-UNIVERSAL-TRIALS-SEAT-TRAIL-RIDERS-/270993709613?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f187bda2d I've had a search on google but can't see a UK stockist, anyone seen it for sale anywhere else before I buy it from the States? Cheers Al

Hi All I have just purchased a 2021 beta 250 and I was wondering what fuel to use, the manual confirms to use a high octane fuel. What is better to use unleaded or super unleaded? Thanks.

  19. Started by gasgasssser,

I`ve just been reading about the difference between unleade(95RON),and super unleaded(98RON).My sherco is supozed to run on 98RON.On the few occasions i1ve had problems,i post a message on this site and usually i get asked if i`m using the correct fuel.I always thought that the super unleaded ignited easier, but apparently not,in fact, quite the opposite. The RON factor is a measure of the fuels resistance to explode due to high compression(and cause pinking or pinging)rather than be ignited at the exact time by the spark. I never knew this, but now i feel enlightened, and i thought i would post this message because i`m sure ther are riders out there who thought as i did....…

Started looking foreward to sunday and ended up remembering last weeks trials day out.. On the way we encountered a (what's the collective term) gaggle of cyclists on the road clearly making a statement about thier presence riding 4 & 5 abreast with the "outrider" supervising passing traffic...ok no problem carried on...about 3 miles up the road we came across a hord (about 40 or 50) of Ramblers crossing the road .they were walking what used to be a track we used in local trials..once again there was one guy controlling the traffic whilst the rest of them crossed the road..no problem. As i carried on the old mind started wandering ..if only we as a body of sports peo…
