Fancied changing my present bike for a nearly new 200. I am a novice rider though I am note intimidated by the power of a big bike. To my mind a 200 would seem to be the ideal compromise of power to weight though they do not seem popular with other riders. Does anybody thoughts or experience of 200s. Thanks, Scraggydog

I was told about this website and mobile app. I think it could be very useful for directions in the trials world. Basically it has the world mapped into 10 metre squares and each has a unique name made of 3 names. Eg car.plaster.spade You give that name and tap it in the app and the location is shown on a map. It will locate a gate on a country lane where a postcode could be a long way out. It could even be used to identify exactly where an individual section is located in a wood etc.

  6. Hey thanks for your input. This is my first trials but I have been riding motorcycles a long time. I am going to buy a bike this week and want to know which you think is a better bike, the 2003 sherco 290 or the 1999 Gas Gas 270.

I'm looking to start in trials but i need a bike which I'm looking to get soon.Which bike would be a good bike to start out on?I'm looking at a 2004 Gas Gas 280 would this be to much bike for me or would a 250 be better.I have been riding dirt bikes off and on for the last 35 years (moto-x and enduro)I had a KTM 300exc and could handle it but i was faster on a Honda XR 400(tamer bike)Could i add a flywheel weight to the Gas Gas 280 to tamer it down till i get used to it?Alot of the riders seem to have 280/300.Is there that much difference between the 250 and 280?Would a Sherco be a more user friendly bike to start out on?Sherco seem the most popular over here(Australia)Th…

Hello all, I am just getting back into trials, I trialled for about 4 years but with work commitments I have missed the last 4 years and my sherco hasn't turned a wheel. Anyway im making the time to start my hobby again, ive got the sherco going and im thinking of upgrading before summer, my sherco 290 is an 04, average condition, what would this roughly be worth now? next question is whats the best bike about these days? how far have they come in the last 4 years? apart from price!!!

I get fed up with trials being referred to as "a race" or "grand prix" Sooner people get back to calling them observed or reliability trials the better. Words like race and grand prix conjure up images of speed and hoards of noisy bikes tearing up the countryside. This impression will only result in land being lost, higher insurance and is an open goal for the numerous organisations that hate off road motorcycling.

Hi, just thinking as one does once in a while what is the best 250? I know all bikes will ride differently and that is down to how you feel but which one is best for owning. Are different years better than others, like Sherco 2007 is alot better than 2006 so they say. Parts are some makes better than others having them in. Maintenace is one better than the rest on cost or ease. Are all 250 engines the same or are some smoother or are some more punchy. JUst wondering!! Steve

2 weeks ago my local club held a 'trials training day'. Broken down this consisted of 1.5 hours of practising on 8 sections that had been set out, then 3 laps of these 8 sections with a score card. Bearing in mind this 'training day' had no effect on any club championship points in either the 'A' or 'B' route. I ride whenever i can but am new to the sport of trials in only the last year and so i enter the 'B' route. I work away from home from 4 - 6 weeks at a time and so this day was only the second time on my bike in 8 weeks due to work and holiday commitments. Myself and A.N other set off in the morning and rode both the 'A' and 'B' routes in the hour and a half p…

Hi all, I now finally have a job and a wodge of cash that is burning a whole in my pocket so I am thinking of getting my wheels coloured. The rims coloured yellow with the side walls polished and the huds done in black and my spokes coloured alternately yellow and black! However please give me your opinion on this colour scheme! (My gasser is yellow by the way)! Also, what do you think the best coatings would be? Anodizing for the rims, powdercoat for the hubs and spokes? I would prefer them to be able to do the wheel building but dont mind seeking a wheel builder if I have to. I would just like some advice on where I might be able to get this done and what you thi…

Hi Folks, Silly question of the day. Knocked out the old wheel bearings on my old Gasgas. Opened the packet of 4 new ones. All correct size (4 of them). But I seem to have 5 old ones on the floor. Did 3 bearings come out of the rear wheel? Is there 2 on the sprocket side? Or am I dreaming. Circlips were both in place on the wheel before I started. New to working on a Trials bike, but is there an extra bearing to take the sprocket force, like the sprocket carrier bearing on a road bike?
