I know some people upgrade their TY175s from a 428 chain, as someone who has had zero problems with the little chain I'm wondering just how much stronger is the bigger one?

Hello to all at this great site ! I have looked through the whole site as i'm looking to buy a Trials bike after an absence of 20 ish years, iam 5'6 and about 10 3/4 stone ( depending on the amount of Curries and beer that i can pack in when allowed) i have read all the excellent advise that other guys post regarding buying a first bike. The thing that seems apparent from the Posts is to start at a 125, i will only be using the bike solely for Trials purposes only ( Not racing about with my Mates) but because of my lack in Height ! will certain bikes be better for Small riders or tall riders ? I would be Happy to spend around the

If ground clearance, mudguard clearance, stability and suspension travel are ignored. Does sliding the fork tubes up allow the bike to make a tighter turning circle?

Any-one got suggestions of fun stuff to do to try and get my skills up as a beginner? I tend to find I end up riding round a bit aimlesssley after a while. A mate had some flags that were very good to mark a bit of a course out - any suggestions there? Also another question, do you find a trials helmet over a MX one helps a lot of makes things easier or more comfortable? I'm also using MX boots but will wait until I'm doing a lot more trials before buying a set of boots I think, the MX one's dont seem much of a hinderance...

I've never competed in a trial before but I've been pottering on mx, enduro and 80's Fantics for over 30 years now so I don't consider myself a "beginner". With this in mind what is the most suitable bike I can buy for under a

For those that don't read the front page... Back in April 2009, one of our Trials Central Forum users posted in our Stolen Bikes Forum that his garage had been broken into and three bikes had been stolen. Roll on 10 months to February 2010 and TC Forum user "benz19" posted a link to a rather dodgy looking Gas Gas which had appeared on EBay. Several thousand miles away in Massachusetts, USA TC Forum user "Dan Williams", not content with providing his very useful Beta Clutch Fix started playing detective and suspected the bike on Ebay was one of the ones reported by the user back in April 2009. Now we're not sure which, but either Dan or user "motofire", again out in the…

Hi, i'm a newbie to this site but been riding for more years than I care to remember. Have ridden sports bikes and now going back to dirt as more fun. So My question is simple and very subjective but would appreciate all contributions: Which bike? Lost track of manufacturers and spec in this area. My only steer on this I would prefer 4 stroke as never been much into oil/ petrol mix and will be using it more for hill climbs, some trails etc so something with some go in it. Many thanks.

Or do they just ride the bike till its trashed and get another?? I know arthur does freestyle and has the trials bike ramp jump record at 35 meters, and dupont also jumps and flips the bike alot. any ideads??

I have a 2005 Scorpa 175. It has a Morad rear rim that from the outside has the same profile as other bikes I've seen with tubeless tyres. It doesn't have a rim lock, but it has an inner tube and tube type tyre on. Thinking that the previous owner had put a tube in to stop it leaking, I have bought a new tubeless rim tape and tubeless tyre. I was told that the rim tape locates in two grooves in the rim, but my rim doesn't have those grooves. Does this mean my rim is a tube type? Or did older rims not have the grooves? Thanks for your help.

Just wondering what other people think really. After pretty much 10 years off trials I'm back on a 2008 Gas Gas Raga (used to have a 1996 Techno). Great bike, love it, but riding it and watching others ride got me thinking whether they are too light for UK winter trials? As soon as you get your feet off the pegs they spin up and go nowhere due to having about 10KGs of downforce on the rear wheel! It seems that perhaps they've become so honed for indoor / spanish sunshine use that they're not engineered for mud anymore. Of course the solution is to keep feet up, but hmmmmmn, challenging! What do people think? Should I just invest in a Tiger Cub?! Or borrow my old man's T…

How is it that some bikes have coloured rims? Are they stickers, painted, or anodised from factory? Tia

Ok, I'm sick of getting changed in the wind and rain whilst standing in my socks in the clarts and I'm not too impressed by the effect the salt on the roads is having on my already scruffy Sherco. I don't want a van and after the fun parking at Rookhope a couple of weeks ago 4WD would be nice. So, is it possible to fit a trials bike into the back of any of the lwb 4wd vehicles currently available in the UK? I'm thinking Landrover 110, LWB Trooper, or even the commercial version of the Discovery
