General Trials Talk

General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

  1. Started by ToneB,

Is anyone out there using these on their bikes? From the blurb they look to have different densities putting rear pressure around 8-10 psi. So what are the thought on them and are they worth the initial cost and fitting? Also would u leave a valve in the rim or add another tyre clamp minimising tyre slip even more but possibly making fitting even harder?

As a newcomer to Trials i asked if anyone knew how hard the Dave Curry trial was as it is close to me and i fancied a go. However i was very please to receive a reply from someone on this forum ( AS iow ) who pointed me the direction of the Richmond club who are apparently holding a trial suitable for beginners on the 22nd October I then this morning spent considerable time getting in touch with said club only to be informed that the only trial richmond are running on 22nd is a trial called "The Scott" which they tell me is the Hardest trial in the world ! So AS iow you have either got your facts wrong or are just a time wasting B@$#%&* I was led to thinking that tria…

Thinking of buying a trials bike to practice on and do the odd trial. Never ridden one before (only ridden motocross). What size bike would you recommend? 250, 300 etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

Does anyone know where to get a point checker. They use them for telling you when the points open and close. The old manuals show them being used. So they must have some around. Or does someone know how to make one. I have used a battery and light, but would like something better

I really should have known I was completely knackered but there was a nice step pointed too me and I thought balls too it lets have a go then why oh why did I do that! didn`t get the front wheel up any where near enough and you guessed it I now have a nice flat spot on my brand new rim Hopefully this will dress out with my mate the hammer tomorrow I`d l…

I noticed this from the homepage. I'm chuffed to bits! For inspiring me as a youngster, and again when I was a young adult and he could win easily on big old British bikes, and for the most inspiring motorcycle museum. Sammy Miller, I thank you. Graham

OK, just for laughs and not wishing to offend anyone who has REALLY hurt themselves, but let's share some daft trials injuries/ accidents. Many years ago I fell over at a standstill trying to push my bike out of a very muddy section after I had fived. I managed to land on the section marker and cracked a rib. This weekend after washing my bike following a trial, I was too lazy to push it into my garage via the side door. Me, being Dougie Lampkin, decided to ride it in. I can attest to Rev3 bars being wider than my garage door. I can also tell you that the brake lever leaves a lovely white indent in your right middle finger. It didn't hurt at the time as my hands were c…

Observers we just can't have trials without them. Having run a very successful club trial over the weekend with lots of help from club members albeit the usual suspects, the most vexing problem (I think thats called an issue nowadays) was to find willing observers, we had 77 entries, half an acre of ground, 10 sections, 3 routes plus a mix and match for what we class as clubman experts..... and by start time with 77 riders revving up and itching to go 5 observers. As COC I circulated for first lap filling in and persuading some of the many friends & families of riders to take a board/section. We got there in the end and I then went around offering "comfort breaks" to …
