General Trials Talk

Hi Folks I'm thinking of riding one of the above trials next year as I can t get to the SSDT. I'm thinking of making it a family holiday though and taking Mrs Baldilocks and the kids along then staying elsewhere in France for another week after the trial. Does anyone know if there is Bed and Breakfast or Hotel accomodation near either event as I dont fancy trying to persuade Mrs Baldilocks and the kids to sleep in a transit for the first week ! cheers

Hi, I'm after advice on which trials bike to get for my son. He is 10 years old (fairly tall for his age) and new to bikes. Would a Gas Gas TXT 80 be suitable? Thanks for any advice.

When you say 50/50 course, is that the rider or the terrain?

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Graham Jarvis as a Youngen, John Lampkin, Steve Saunders..........what more could you ask for? Wowzers some of the youngens have a few nasty crashes but none gave up. Very determined riders.

I was in the cinema the other day and a trailer appeared for the new James Bond film. Now, did my eyes lie or is James Bond on a trials bike jumping over walls/boxes? I've had a quick look over TF and nothing jumped out about this; obviously a stunt rider (que Lane Leavitt). Any news?

Has anyone got a spare aluminium cover lying around that they could take a photo of the top side and the bottom side of it. Also some measurements of them, overall length, overall width, hole positions, hole diameters etc etc..... I have access to a toolroom and want to make myself some Aluminium covers for my brake and clutch master cylinders. I know you can buy them anodised in all colours but i dont want to pay nearly

One of my local clubs held thier annual road trial today and I and my five year old daughter observed in the morning and spectated in the afternon. As usual while observing i was firm but fair and everyone smiled expressed thier thanks and rode on, some as usual stopped for a chat or or said hello to me or my daughter. a pleasant way to spend the morning and as the sun was out and the skies blue we spectated at one of the later groups. the section was tricky, get there early and you had an evens chance of a clean the last 25% of the entry had difficulty getting out of the mudhole, some riders literally having a mudbath. Now as is the norm the 'top' riders were riding tog…

I have done a search on the forum for details about the differences in 2 stroke oil and I understand that "you get what you pay for" and that fully synthetic is better than semi. But what I arent sure of is whether I should follow the Beta instructions for my 2006 250 Rev 3 and use 70ml of semi synthetic oil in 5 litres of petrol, or whether I should take on board peoples advice on the forum from other threads and use fully synthetic as it is supposed to be better stuff???

Im planning on doing the presidents trial post hill leeds on boxing day.Ive had a bike for 3 months but never entered a trial.Which class do i enter? Looking at the novice class its down to do the hard course whereas the clubman class does the easy course! so i guess clubman classes are where a rider should start?

Hi all, Just got back on the site after a long absence, I'am still not sure why I could not get on here, but there you go... Sherco 2004 mint, bought it in 2013 to get into the sport, sold it two months later after nearly killing myself.... After some deliberation with a friend to keep going bought a cheep gasgas 2004 to scratch and learn. ( IT WORKED ). Held on to that for a year and enjoyed it. OK, sold that and fancied a newish bike...In the back of my mind was " I need to conquer the SHERCO". Well off to the Sherco shop and low and behold 2012 Sherco 290 Savage can only be described as NEW...This bike had no miles at all superb......Cash handed over and a big smi…

My wife is planning a family trip to London, with a side trip to Edinburgh, in April. The Edinburgh journey will be to visit friends and will only last a few days. I don't imagine I'll have too much **free** time, but was wondering if there's anything trials related in the vicinity of either of these two locations that I ought to see. I'd be happy with just walking into a m/c shop that sold trials gear to take a break from the usual sightseeing.

I have an aprillia climber the green and white tank and water cooled with disc brakes. It will start and run but shows a distinct lack of power uphill then after about 30 - 40 minutes it cuts out and refuses to start again. I've stripped and cleaned carb. and it has a big fat spark i've changed the plug too. I've not had anything to do with aprillias and no one rides one in our centre so any help/suggestions would be appreciated

I am determined to change the footpegs of my vertigo. my current footpegs are the S3 Hard Rock Steel. I have driven another bike from a friend with the S3 Hard Rock aluminum and I have felt much more comfortable, because they are bigger. The doubt comes, that when looking for new footrests, I see that there is another model called curve. Any experience with these footrests? the one who has tried both, which is his favorite? My level is medium low, although little by little I start using the rear wheel more to jump.

National and international trials events . How long before they are affected? what action should be taken , if any?

im thinking of buying a new bike but its probably between the montesa 4rt or the scorpa. i want a bike that is reliable well made and that will last. Should i save almost a grand more and go for the 4rt or will the scorpa be just as good and improve my riding more than the 4rt. James
