General Trials Talk

I need to get my head round why the likes of trials UK and others on here state that to calm a bike down, you can DOWN tooth the front sprocket ? Yes, I know there are various other ways also, but specifically this route ? Coming from a road riding perspective, as I do, and fairly new to trials, this flies in the face of what happens with road/track/race bikes. Can anyone give me an explanation to this.

So, with Alfredo Gomez not getting Montesa bikes for 2012 (p*** poor timing for Alfredo), Fabio Lenzi leaving the Future Montesa team and Laia Sanz, now on the Gas Gas, how long before, either Honda pull the plug on Montesa, or show continued interest in motorcycle trials with the launch of a new bike. Personally I'd like to see Honda continue, (I love my 4RT) In my personal opinion, they should ditch the Montesa name and sell the new bike as a Honda RTL, because thats what effectively they have been and would be (Its not like Honda dont have any history or success in trials is it). Not sure where to post this topic so will put it in here. I have tried to post something on the new off road mart page, but everytime I go to upload a picture I get an error message ? I have PM'd the fella Andy but other than a single reply from him, and two further replies from me, I am no further forward. Has anyone else experienced this error message ? any way of resolving it ? Can't see it being a file to big cause I get message with any size of file. Any help aprreciated.

Hi, I am going to paint the engine cases, cylinder head and barrel on my Ossa in a satin/matt black.The last time I did any engine painting I used PJ1 engine paint but trying to buy this paint now is nearly impossible. Can anybody recommend an alternative or is it still possible to buy PJ1 at a reasonable price?

I have a beta rev 3 2002. It's my first trial bike, I have had it about a month. It was a little un loved, so needs a bit of tinkering, which it is getting. I am working thought it Anyway, I actually rode it last week, and the rear brake started to bind, so after looking at it I decided to rebuild the calliper new seals and pistons. Putting it all back on and it's not working as it should. I have looked around the internet, I did before I did the work. I am now stuck for what to do next. Symptoms are. Hello, i need some advise on choosing the correct engine for a first trial bike. I have been riding MX since i was a kid and i have let say intermediate enduro skills. I was analyzing the newer models and will probably get a gasgas but cant figure out how does the different engines 250/280/300 feel like.. it looks like all of them have same stroke and the difference comes from the bore. i guess as with any other engine the bigger the piston the more power.. at first my idea was to get a 300cc, but is this stronger engine will affect the learning curve? I am 180 cm and 74 kilos and as of now i am hesitating between the 250 and 300 cc engines.. i would to improve m…

Ozo shocks come stock with 12mm mountings top and bottom. How the hell do I change the bushings out for the top mounts on my mar. They are 15mm I’ve tried to contact PMK He’s done it. But I don’t know my way around this site yet. I wrote him all about it but the message wouldn’t send. It said someone else had my email address. Holly crap! So frustrating

With the weather being so hot recently I have noticed that my helmet (Shoei) has strated to give off a rather awfull smell, I have washed the removable bits but it still smells like a fish wifes apron. It wont fit in the washer anybody got any suggestions

Hi all I am looking for a bike for my 10 year old lad. This will be his first bike. People have suggested a ty80 as a good starter but I can’t help think these are a bit outdated now? Having said that I don’t want to spend a fortune if doesn’t carry it on. The ty are in budget along with the 50cc autos from beta etc. Would the 50cc autos be to small for him are they any good or should I go down the clutch/geared route ie ty80 ……….any help or advice much appreciated
