Hey everyone, Names Doug from Inverness, Scotland New to trials trying get into it to help my enduro riding on my KTM 300exc and just get better overall slow speed bike control. Figuring out what kind of bike to go for tho is a nightmare as I haven't got a huge budget, and there is so many different bikes and conflicting information. Also I'm a heavy lad (around 18 Stone) so was worried what bikes would manage my weight as trial bikes don't seem to have the heavest suspension around. I've been looking at a 2010 290 Beta Evo guy was wanting £1800 for it which i thought was a really good price as it's just been nickle plated back down to a Size A piston and the bike is…

Hi to all, I never fancied trials and could never see the point of it, been riding since i was 11 (which was a LONG time ago) and i then did 5 years of road racing, and five of Enduro and had road bikes in between. Well now is the time and i have bought a sorted 1998 Gasgas 320 of a mate and i can't get enough of it. A lot of my mates, some of who have done well in MX and national road racing are doing trials and love it. I've only been riding the bike for a couple of weeks but i've picked up a few things already and all i can say is sorry to all those i used to turn my nose up at. Ignorance really is bliss. If i had one of these bikes when i was a kid i'd be 10 times th…

Hi all, I've just about finished my Honda 125 Special, and I'm aiming to do a couple of events in the New Year. I came back last year after a 25 year layoff and did a few trials- but with hindsight, perhaps a Monty 348 wasn't the best / easiest bike to start back on..(!) (Sadly) that's now been sold on to a younger, fitter owner- but I do love a project, so I built this bike up over the Summer.

Hi, my next door neighbour has recently bought a gas gas 125 and i have been to a couple of local trials with her. I have had road bikes all my life but I thought i would have a bit of offroad fun. so to see if i would be competent enough I have just bought a cheapie montesa cota 314r? I think. The guy I bought it off fired it up after two prods, but since I got it home, so far it refuses to start or me!! Oh well head scratching time!

However I'm wondering if there's anywhere that does any sort of tuition!? Hello everyone, my names Pete and after a 25 year layoff, I'm taking up trials again! My last bike was a Montesa 200C Cota twinshock, and I've just bought a 315R and joined and entered for my first club trial next Sunday...! I think I better get some practice in. I've also got an '04R1 which is really a track day tool and barely road legal, though I do use it on the road. And instead of getting bored in the winter with no fun to be had doing trackdays in the UK, I've decided to get back into Trials. I've started modding the bike already and have fitted a OKO 28mm / KEIHIN PHK rep carb.

Hi all. I have been looking through the forum for a couple of weeks and it looks just the place I need for some advice. I fancy getting myself a trials bike for playing on and doing a couple of trials each year. Not sure what I should be looking for but I do want it road registered and want something that is reliable, easy to get spares for and not too expensive. I have around

Hi all. New to trials and there seems a lot to learn and there is a tonne of info on here that may take a while to chug through.... Strangest thing I have learned so far is that parts are easier to find for an old Fantic than for a 2000 Beta 250 Evo3, especially rear mud guards!! Anyway I am torn between three starter bikes. Honda TL125, Fantic 200 and a Yamaha TY250 - all vgc. Anyone have any views, hoping to view the Fantic at the weekend. Looking just to play about at the moment to see if I really like it and also to ride with my son on his Oset. Thanks all!

  18. hey everybody. so as the title says I'm a first timer on this website although i have used it in the past but I've needed to register so i can get some information from any one of your brilliant minds. so i have a gas gas txt pro raga replica 2009 300cc and i like it but... i snapped the spur gear on the kick start shaft and now i cannot for the life of me remember which way it went back in. I've looked on google and had a few threads showing how to index it properly but the only one that seems to be the better one is this so when the gear slides up the shaft it will engage more so at the top whereas before it was almost half way round. is this the right way to do …

Anyone else around Oxford/Northampton know of anywhere suitable for a beginner? I'm looking to get a bike, what would be the best for a newbie, 6ft and 95kgs, I have a budget of around

Hiya guys!!! The names Shane, from the deep southwest of Ireland, and this time last year I saw a Beta Techno 250 going for very cheap money (project), so I snapped it up, and set about doing it up.... Long story short, in the process of removing the alternator from the engine, I noticed the trigger coil fell off the stator (broken). I tried to solder it back on and glue it into place, but having rebuilt it now, I can confirm no spark.... Does anyone have any ideas that may be cheaper than splashing out £100 on a new stator? I'm a student with 2 other bikes to maintain so I'm trying to keep this one to a cost minimum. Anyways, apart from that the bike is ready to go…
