Hello, I'm new to the sport of trials and have to say I'm loving it. So much so that my poor 2014 Husaberg TE300 is just sitting in the garage getting dusty. I bought a 2015 Sherco Factory Edition 300, what an amazing bike. I decided right away after bringing it home that I would make a video series to log my transition into the sport and see how or if any progression was made. I've been riding some very extreme terrain for years now but have developed allot of bad habits due to lazy riding practice compensated by speed, momentum and a pimped out bike. Ive ridden bikes since 1963, bought my first one myself at 18 in 1965 . . and have had over 100 different bikes in the last 45 years . . . . Being a 'tool guy' I mostly fix them up, drive them for a while and resell and buy something better until I have something I want to keep a while . . I rode a 74 Honda tl125 in 74-76 and a tl250 in 84 , , , had a bad fall in 85 desending a steep slope, broken bones involved, and swore off dirt bikes . . . kept ridding street bikes until I was 55 and my wife asked me to stop . . said Ok . . . went for 4 years without a bike . . . Hi all Used to ride in the Eastern Centre and South Midland Centres in the early 70's Belonged to Chelmsford & dist. North East London & Barnet & dist MCC's Started out with a 1966 Greeves Anglian, then saw what Don DR Smith could do with his Works Montesa Cota 247 so had to have one of them, along came a MK2 which was followed by a Mk 3 a couple of years later. I never improved above Novice but still had fun riding against the likes of Don Smith, John Banks (when he wasn't moto-xing) Simon Wigg and i remember doing the Isle of Wight 2 day trial with Sammy Miller. hey gang, Been away from bikes for a bit. 2t motocrossers as a kid, rode a Ducati for the street as an adult. T-boned a deer about 6 years ago. Got broke up a bit. Healed up fine. Concentrated on other things for a bit. Now at 53 and I'm itching to ride. Always wanted a trials bike. Typically, I don't like buying used stuff. But listening you cats seems like bike selection is tough. How do I buy my first trials bike? Currently in Brazil, been watching a ton of videos, searching on Ebay. Lots of interesting stuff out there. I'm heading back to the states mid November. How do I begin my hunt? Thanks

Hi, to everone on board. I've been around bikes since I was 14 right through to being old enough to know better. Ive never competed in a trial but I have observed at a couple in years gone by. So what am I doing here, well I've decided that at 50+ I would like to try a few trials before its to late. I've been looking around the site and have more or less decided to go down the twin shock route on a bike from the 60's or 70's. ( i'll need to be able to sit down )It will probabley mean renovating or building a suitable light weight bike, as its going to have to be carried on the rear of the car. Hi all. Well finally got a trials bike - better late than never. ‘86 ty250 that’s a bit old and tatty (like it’s owner). Guess i’ll be here a fair bit ad i can’t find a useful workshop manual. Sorting the clutch is the first issue as it’s not good. Lever pulls but the bike barely rolls. I put in 5th a gently rocked it to free it up as it seemed stuck - it did the old leap forward when i put it in gear, clutch lever pulled in! Help always Appreciated. Thanks. Beardy.

Hello, Being my 1st post here, I should talk about my trials bike. Unfortunately, I may not have one. At least an original factory built example. I have a 1957 AJS 18CS. It doesn't run yet. I have asked all this over on the AJS site. If the Competition Dept at AJS ever built a 500cc Trials. It seems from factory literature (brochure) they weren't offered. I haven't gotten a definite answer yet. I thought I would ask the question here as this is a Trials dedicated site where the AJS site is not as much about Trials. Greetings all, I am in Logan, Utah. I raced motocross a lot when younger (ok, it was 25 years ago - I am 43 now) and have mostly been doing street bike riding since then. I always wanted to do some trials riding and just bought a Montesa 315R about a week ago. Of course, I have no clue what I am doing but have only looped it once and gained a lot (a ton) of respect for the bike - what a beast! Any practice advice would be greatly appreciated - I have been doing low speed figure 8s and set up some small obstacles in my back yard. Hello from West central Missouri. Older guy..I'm 62 years old. Retired , and on fixed income. Social security. Been saving up for the last few years. Saved up 1500.00$ Been wanting a bike to ride. I do have a large yard here on the old farm. Then I see a video of a trials bike. I like the go slow part. But anyhoo.. there's not much to pick from around here. Got on the web. Asking about a used bike.. 125cc ? Nothing. But I was absolutely shocked to find out what a new trials bike costs. Ten thousand dollars.. that completely blows me out of the water. Hello every one, just joined the forum and want to say Hi, I have just bought a 1979 Montesa Cota 247 and i am attempting to relive my youth at 51 years of age. The bike is stripped down for restoration as i type this, it was complete and running lovely when i picked it up last week. The frame, swing arm and side stand are ready to go to the powder coaters and the shopping list for new parts will start next week when i return from holiday. I am looking forward to getting involved in the forum and hope to pick up useful information and tips regarding the bike and getting back to riding trials after a 30 year lay off. Cheers John.

Hi Ive been dabbing in trials for over 40 years now and still love rideing trials bikes in the dirt. Apart from the fact that trials riders are the most genuine of people to hang out with its great to be on this forum as there is very helpful posts and advice here too. Hey all, Greying beard, rode lots of dirt bikes and some motocross over the years, not a pro by any means, just riding for fun. Always wanted to ride trials... Been reading this forum for a while trying to gain some knowledge about purchasing a used trials bike. Being in Canada, trials bikes are few and far between, and I didn't want to spend too much to get into trials at this point. I finally found an older Beta Rev3 250, 2001 for a low enough price, it was probably more used for trail riding before though but seems in reasonable condition otherwise. Eyup folks. I'm an ald fuddy duddy who had decided to give Trials a go. I used to compete in Land Rover trials before my move to a wild and wet Scotland. I miss getting mucky so have decided to have a go at motorcycle trials as a hobby Not looking to become top of the class, just to meet a like minded bunch of folks and have a laugh. Hi there, just like to introduce myself. I've just bought my first trials bike, partly on a whim but i,ve always fancied having a go. Anyway I got a sherco 250(2000) as a project knowing that it needed the main bearings doing(will be posting in the correct area about this job). I live in the Newcastle area and will be looking for practice areas, hoping warden law is still open but will be looking for alternatives as well.
