Hi all New to the forum, I have already posted (how rude) without introducing myself. Place of living : New Zealand, Wellington PLace for Holidays : France, south West Place where I will die : most probably New Zealand I have both citizenship though I tried to sale my french passport to Oussama, he did not want it ! I am geologist but moved away from being a scientist for a decent job (where at least you get paid for what you do) Anyway, I am 43 in few month, have too many kids and not enough bikes (DRZ400E, Montesa 315R, Aprilia 250RX 1986) I am a crap trialist : I usually use super8 to shoot stuff for youtube (see drdoud, with a Super8 on the ISDE in Taupo …

Hi I am new to this forum and I don't know what I doing and hope I am in the correct section !! If not well there you go . I got myself a Montesa Cota 247 and know next to nothing about trials / trail / dirt / 2 stroke bikes . I may annoy you a bit asking simple questions to you but I will be lost . I am doing the front forks now and I have been told 200 ml of 10 wt oil . There was 150 ml in each leg when I emtied them out so I am taking notice of a comment on this forum of 200 ml and 10 wt oil . I suspect that the crank seal's need doing so when I get to that stage I will be yelling out " HELP ME PLEASE " I am in Sydney Australia so maybe there is some one close to …

Hello all I've just acquired a complete and original Honda SL125 in fair condition apart from a non-original paint job. It's a first time starter and almost useable as is apart from needing a new rear tyre for an MOT. I've no serious intention of doing any offroading as those activities ended for me in 1962 when I was in the Royal Sigs.BAOR Trials Team using clapped out BSA M20's complete with girder forks and panniers so I intend to restore it to original condition using all existing parts where possible. Ive got a readable copy of the Haynes manual for CB125J's (probably with all known EOE's but what I am after is a copy of an original Honda SL125 parts list from 1…

  6. Hi everyone, nice to meet you all. I have finally bitten the bullet after many years of daydreaming and purchased a good 1998 GasGas TX125 CONTACT from a friend. He stopped riding it beasuse of Parkinsons problems. These machines are totally different from the old twin shock TY174 and 250 I used to ride. Does anyone know what the best oil is for this engine? There`s so much conflicting advice floasting around and I can`t seem to find the right answer. My friend just used to get someone else to service it and has no clue what oil was used. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  7. Hi all recently purchased a Montesa cota 200 81/82 I think, I'm finding it hard to find a knowledge base for this machine,so who's the Go to on here for the knowledge?

  8. I have returned to trials a couple of years ago and things have moved on so much. I started back on a 2 stroke but now riding a 4rt which suits me better now I'm older. I fancy a repsol now so any comments on difference please? Simon

Hi all, after 3 or 4 years out of the sport I am returning to trials! Just bought myself an 07 Gas Gas 300 Raga Rep - hoping it doesnt kill me as the last bike I rode was an 06 125! I'm 19 years old now and hoping to get back into the swing of things asap! Hopefully see some of you at the Waltham Chase/Waterside events!

Hey everybody! I'm a semi-pro Sportbike Freestyle rider who's looking for a new chalenge! I've been intrigued by Trials for years, and I want to buy my first Trials bike. I have really good throttle and brake control compared to most novice trials riders due to my experience with Sportbike Freestyle and I'm wondering which bike I should start on. There's a 1993 Gas Gas GT12 and a 1992 Gas Gas GT32 for sale somewhat close by. They're both priced at $1200 (thought I'm sure I can talk them down.) Which one would be a better starter bike for someone such as myself? I'm not a big guy (5'10", 180lbs) but like I said I think I would take to this pretty quickly due to my experi…

First posts on forums are always difficult, but here goes..... Fat and over forty, I've been competing in enduros and rallies for quite a number of years, but have decided to take up trials riding. With this in mind, I've recently purchased an '03 Gas Gas 250 TXT PRO. Quite a revelation, and so easy to ride (on my drive ), I wish I had done it years ago. I'll be looking to enter a few local events in the new year, so any tips and pointers would be more than welcome. I went and had a look at a couple of sections at an event in Dover a couple of weeks ago, and decided that it was do-able (though the ground conditions were good).

I just thought I'd stick the old Reverential nose into here & introduce myself, so if I can buy anyone a drink just ask.. So here's hoping I've done the right thing, then. Turned fifty & still want to hurt myself riding those bloomin' bikes, so my mother said to me this afternoon. Doesn't have to be like that, does it? I mean, it's all about low speed skill & balance, surely? Yeah, right. I've had a fair few years in the past with the TRF (Trail Riders Fellowship for non UK folks) but got fed up with the constant confrontations with stupid people & red tape. Love the principle, hate the practicality. Had a few years competing in some of the three main …

Hello! Thought I'd better introduce myself before diving in with the questions. I've been looking at this site for the last few weeks and I've already found it to be a great resource, thanks guys! So, I'm interested in getting into trials riding. I haven't got a trials bike yet, but I have found a local club, and have talked to a couple of the members who were very helpful. I'm going to attend their next event at the start of March, before I pull the trigger and buy a bike, but I'm pretty much sold on the idea already. Other info, I'm from Ireland, I'm 34, and I've been riding an on-road motorcycle for the last year and a half. I want to get into trial…

Hey y'all. Newbie here and complete pleb. I've been building and evolving a Honda 125 for a year now, not for competition but for getting quietly and carefully around various farms and landscapes. As a solo it's more than proved itself, but a small chair came along and I'm here to look for advice. Atb Erskine

Hi, I am new to the sport this website and motorcycles in general. I participated in my first trials event this last October and decided to jump in with both feet. I am currently restoring and modifying a TY175 for the coming year and have a second restoration waiting in the wings. I have learned a lot already from this site and it has helped shape my project. I am new to trials bikes but have been building, wrenching and racing cars for several years. Below are some pics of my TY frame in process. Enjoy!

  19. Hi all, my names justin, and I'm new to trials. I'm thinking about having a go, and am interested in the classic and twinshock side of things. I'd love some advice from anyone as to the do's and dont's with trying and buying. I can see that there's loads of nice bikes out there ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds. I've looked at Beamish, ossa mar and gripper, bultaco sherpa, montesa 247, etc etc. I've had road bikes most of my life, but last year ended up with 12 points so sold my last bike! I miss riding loads, and I fancy a go at something new. Would really appreciate some advice from anyone.

Hey one and all, Just wanted to say hi to you guys, I've just bought an olden but golden 1983 Honda TLR200D, the old girl has just arrived today and she's in need of some care but bless her she runs and is still full of life. Been a good few years since I've rode trials, I dabbled a bit back in the UK many years ago and loved the trials scene, not just the riding but everything that goes with it, so time to get back out there. I will post some pics of how she is now and how I get on with restoring and riding her, any advice etc is greatly appreciated. Cheers Dave
