I spotted a forlorn TY250 out in the rain and just had to rescue it. Cost me a hundred bucks. It is part yellow 1974 and part blue 1977. Frame is 434-000xxx and engine is 493-20xxxx. It's 99% all there and would probably start and drive but I optioned to give it a quickie restoration first. Then do it up right if it bike runs and drives fine. The Good: Motor is free and has spark & compression, wheels are round, steel tank solid, seat/fenders/side/skidplate cover present, lighting kit present and presentable. The Bad: White death in the carb (needs rebuild kit), broken upper throttle cable (how does one replace just the upper?), marginal front brake cable, c…

Hello all, new at the trials game, have been on two wheels for a long time now, but have always admired the discipline and talent required for proper trials riding... that being said, after a long search on our local (read all of canada) clasifides I finnnaly came accross a machine that was 1: within my budget and 2: not halfway accross the country... So Now I am the proud owner of a gently used, not overly abused 2003 yamaha scorpa sy250r that suits me just fine, only I have come to find out that getting spares for this (or any other trials bike) is a bit of a challenge in my current geographical location... Looking for any advice on reliable sites that I can order…

Andy, (I appreciate this might not be the best place to post this) Just a thought, as TC features grow, is there a user guide or a place where we can post the stupid questions, "How do I ....." How to post pictures/links to pictures/Videos How to use the search engine Not missing any posts ("view new posts", "mark all posts as read" etc.) Setup a Blog, track a blog etc. Etc. I keep trying to do a search, say of all posts in the last week, but I'm incompetant and can't get the results I want.

Hi all. I have always fancied a go at trials so thought this is the place to start. At the moment I am selling my trusty XR600 which I hope will fund a new toy. Possibly a Gasgas txt 250? However, I know very little about this type of bike or trialling in general. The plan is to fit a rack on the back of my Land Rover and go and learn a bit of what it is all about. So here I am. Ready to learn, and in need of a bike.

  9. Hi all, I'm new to the forum and also new to trials riding. In fact I'm yet to try it, hence why I'm here! I'm based in North Tyneside (near Newcastle upon Tyne) and I'm looking for some advice/guidance on how to get started, local clubs, tuition, bikes, gear etc. Been road riding for about 2 years now but would love to give trials a go. Anyone that could help point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, just joined the forum last week after skulking in the shadows for a while... Stopped riding about 15 years ago after I found the sections were increasingly unrideable with my meagre abilities but have missed it ever since. I'm now older, fatter, and unhealthier than I've ever been so what better time to make a flamboyant embarrassing return? Hope to buy a trail bike and ride a few LDTs and some trail bike trials as I really don't think I can ride modern trials any longer. My list of suitable bikes is quite short at the moment but maybe favour an older Beta Alp 4.0. Any other suggestions of bikes I may have overlooked would be very welcome. Budget is no more t…

Hello All, I've just come over to trials after riding supermotos and the last year has been on an enduro bike (KTM300EXC). I've come over after I keep bashing myself up a bit on the dirt and I'm hoping that trials will provide the spills at much lower speeds (although I have broken my leg with a 10mph get-off in the past! ) I've just picked up an '06 Beta 270 Rev3 and I'll be out later on it for the 1st time. I'll be looking for tips and hints and this forum seems the ideal place to start. see you Shaun.

After a 15 year absence I have decided to dust off my TY175 and try some vintage events. At 64 I hope I can still geterdone! I also have a 82 WhiteHawk TY80 conversion that I brought back to the states after a tour in the UK with the USAF. I was fortunate to be able to purchase it as a Kit and put it together one I got home. The WhiteHawk has a 20X2.75 frt tyre and is in need of replacement, but I have been unable to locate one. If anyone knows of a source I would appricate it.

Hi I am new to this forum and sport, I have been drooling over trials bikes for many years and after 10+ years on an enduro bike i am about to embark into the skilled world of trials. got the green light today from my wife and i have my eye on a nice 2004 montesa 315. Hope this move turns out to be all i expect, having never even ridden a trials bike. I live in Swaziland and have all the right terrain on my doorstep to take advantage of, not to mention i have two small boys who i would rather see started on an Oset than a peewee! ... need to get a head start since the older one is 3 and i will need the skill to match his energy

Hello all, I am new to this forum. I just purchased a 1971Ossa Mar from an individual who lives in denver colorado at a very high altitude. He has a mikuni on the bike. I live in sacramento California at sea level and occaisionally ride at around 2 thousand feet. My question is do I need to rejet the mikiuni to run richer e.g. needle position, main jet size, etc or can I leave it. What I don't want is for the bike to run too lean. Sorry but I don't know the model of the carby yet as the bike is still on the way. In any case your help is greatly appreciated. Sincerely Paul and Donna
