The Canadian Trials season is now over, and one name that dominated the Intermediate class, is that of Matt Fracy, son of former Canadian Champ Steve Fracy. - Although only 12 years old Matt won his class in all of the Vancouver Island events, plus the WEC Canadian Intermediate Championship - add to this a second place overall in the PNTA Series, and it is obvious that this young lad is a star of the future.

The C.T.C.G. is in the progress of being formed and will be initially comprised of one representative from each province however BC and AB will have multi reps during the start up phase. How the group functions, its future structure and mandate will be decided democratically by the group once it's up and running. The dates have been announced for the 2010 WEC Canadian National Trials Championship. Rounds 1&2 at Shawnigan Lake. British Columbia. May 22/23 Rounds 3&4 in Quebec - July 31/Aug 1st.

I see anyone riding off road in BC Victoria need to sport a BCORMA trail sticker price $30/ year even on the clubs own private property. In Oregon we have the ORV tag which costs $10.50 for two years, and only applies when you are riding on state forestry property, on private property used by our club, which is the majority of the events each year, no sticker is required. Both California and Washington states honor the Oregon sticker as we do thier sticker. If we come up to ride the PNTA rounds on private property and have to pay $30 plus entry fee per rider to ride on private property, is it fare to charge your riders $30 extra to ride our events ?. The first two rounds of the new WEC Canadian Championship Trials Series were held on the May long weekend in Summerland BC. - With 54 riders on Saturday, 55 on Sunday and 11 for the Vintage on Monday, a good time was had by all. The winner of the Champ class on both days, was Steve Foord, who recently emigrated from the UK - Steve was well known as a minder for both Graham Jarvis and Sam Connor. - The Sherco rider soon adapted to the Canadian terrain, and beat out the top riders from Vancouver and the West coast. I just read through the recent "Trouble at AHRMA" thread on the USA forum. Yikes! Almost as bad as reading CMA/WEC politics for modern Canadian Trials! As for the former, all politics aside, the riding issues sound very familar to ones I have heard since starting to help organize and compete in vintage events here in Canada over 20 years ago. Ironically, some of the vintage bikes we see out in recent times were being used in modern events back when we started "vintage" trials in Eastern Canada! Much has changed and the old guard of BSA and Triumph riders are almost completely absent now, while the ubiquitous TY's , TLs, Sherpas, etc. are all over 30 years old. Turnouts…

I see that there are Four Canadian riders in the SSDT this year, the largest contingent for quite a while. - The best known of these is Stan Bakgaard, who last rode the event in 1984 finishing 13th on a TY 250. - Stan will be mounted on a Sherco for this year's Trial.

Is there anyone out there that would support the return of a true and balanced Canadian National trials series with the result being Canada sending it's best to the TDN? The rules seem a little cloudy on the subject of team selection but with some lobby work to the CMA (or MMC if they ever get FIM sanctioning) I would like to see if we could make this a reality. This is not meant to start forum for people to vent their spleens at the CMA; but rather to see if people want to see us move forward. Spencer Fitschen

Watching the video on the last post made me wonder. What happened to the Terra Nova. My Dad rode the event several times (I think he went for the beer) and I rode it once with my brother. If I remeber correctly it was basicly an enduro on Vancover Island. The event was always on your Thanksgiving. It was about 90 miles each way and started from your property (do you still have the property?). The event was more like one long section. It was very tough. I think I rode the event in around 1984. I know I did not win and was very tired after the first day. But it was the most amazing ride I have ever ridden.
