February 22, 201016 yr Hey, does anyone knows how the decompressor works on the sherco? mine lost a circlips and is toutching the side of the engine casing mayby it is bent? is it hard to chande this and is there something to look for when reinstalling the cam? regards bob
February 23, 201016 yr I do know how they basically work, yet never had the Sherco apart. Cannot tell from the parts illustration excatly where the retaining clip fits, as it seems it must be on the backside of where the shaft enters the cam. Hopefully you can pull te bugger out through the plate hole. And if the shaft is bent, this should be easily detected as it should rotate freely in the installed position against the minute spring pressure. Where's the clip?
February 24, 201016 yr Bob, A friend sent me some pics. One can clearly see the spring yet not the clip. It surely goes on the backside of where the shaft enters the cam. These are in the normal running position, kicker lobe not engaged. All said, I think you may have to remove the cam to get things back in situ. MC

February 24, 201016 yr The circlip goes in front of the spring after you place the valve lifter through the cam shaft, then the spring has a small bend on it that locates in an hole on the valve lifter shaft, this gives the shaft spring tention so it's not flopping about. First job is to take the cam chain tentioner out, before you remove the side cover or it will drop, if you are carefull you can wiggle the cam out through the chain no need to take the chain off, I made reference marks with a paint pen and all went back togeather fine. I did a few when the 05 had the hot start mod upgrade. I rode mine without the valve lifter in for a few trials no problem, just a bit harder to kick over.
February 25, 201016 yr The bike sold about a month ago but it had stock main 33 pilot on the 250 for this area, I tried going leaner on the main and richer on the pilot but it wasn't right, we will be a bit closer to the UK for weather conditions here in Oregon. Waiting for the 010 to arrive, week or three away yet though.
