  1. Hi everyone, I have always wanted to give a trials bike a shot, finally got my chance recently when a used 2001 GasGas TXT 200 showed up for sale locally. I don't have an owners manual or shop manual and couldn't find them online, all I really know is to use 95+ octane at 75:1. I ran 93 pump yesterday with no knock, hopefully that is fine since that's all I can find around here. I've ridden dirt and street for many years so I think I will pick up the basics quickly, now I just need to find some obstacles to try riding over. The bad: The left fork adjuster (I think this is for compression) plastic knob is broken off but I can turn the adjuster with a wrench. There is no crankcase breather hose and/or vent. Does this vent to airbox or should there be a filter? The worst problem is that the bleeder on the rear caliper is sheared off and there is pretty much nothing but air in the rear line so no rear brake. I tried grabbing with vice grips but no luck, next try will be to cut a slot with a Dremel and use a flat bladed screwdriver. It was very low on coolant. I filled the radiator to the top but some dribbled out after the bike got hot. Not sure if this is normal or not and not sure if I should fill the radiator to the top. The fan does kick in after maybe 10 minutes of riding, and shuts off after running for maybe 30 seconds. Tires are original and cracking but fine until I get a little better. The front pads seem really weak, probably just due to age. The headlight, taillight, and instrument cluster were removed. The good: Seems to run fine, doesn't overheat, power is okay, starts easily. No water in crankcase oil. Burns amazingly little fuel! I believe everything is original, including hard brake pads and old tires. Supposedly there is a trials dealer (or at least parts importer) close by in Herndon, VA called The Trials Zone, owned by a Matt Liberatore. Anyone have any experience with him? Thanks The whole stable:
