  1. Cool, thanks Rich ! I'll give you a call as soon as get the bike and break the news to wifey
  2. Thanks Tom, sounds like good advice on the boots. I'll do some internet shopping tonight. Just sent a test email. Last night was a bear at work with the storm that came through town, got home late and didn't even think of emailing. Gotcha on the time also
  3. JTT, thanks again Buster, I'll try that addy you provided tonight. Looking forward to meeting up with guys as well. I think his screen name was Ateb, don't recall his first name. I spoke with him once on the phone, believe he's from the Jefferson area ??? Also, signed up last night for that trials newspaper you mentioned. I need to make a decision on boots asap, don't know if my mx boots are gonna be flexible enough for this type of riding. Anyone have experience with the Alpinestars no stop ? I have a Hebo helmet coming with the bike from Keystone. Also have 2 liters of GM Auto trak2 for gearbox, plan on changing it frequently due to the capacity or lack thereof
  4. JTT, thanks ! Have you done any business with Lewisport USA or Dallan in the Great White North ? Buster, I tried several times to reply to your original email and it was returned undeliverable ? You are up in Highland Lakes right ? I ended up getting ( about to get) the bike from Dom @ Keystone Cycle in PA. I shopped around a bit out of state and he gave me the best price and is willing to deliver for the price of gas, can't beat that. We have to hook up as soon as I get the bike. I also want to try to get with Ateb if I can locate his email. I should hopefully have the bike very soon, Keystone is getting more in stock this week.
  5. I found THIS , is Moto-Air stock for the Pro bikes ?
  6. A few months ago I asked and recieved great advice from this board. Finally made the decision to get the Pro 300, which I should have in a week or so. Two questions... does anyone have a link for a PDF service manual ? The links apparently are broken on the Gas Gas USA site. Also, I'd like to pick up another air filter so I have a spare to swap out. Is the air filter a Twin Air foam or another make and is there a compatabilty with another bike ? Thanks in advance ! I'll post some pics as soon as I get the new ride. Scott W.
  7. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of your help and wisdom. I have learned alot already ! For the Jersey guys... I will get back to both of you a.s.a.p. Work and family has been very time consuming these last few days. Please don't take my lack of immediate response as a lack of interest As I type this we are getting more snow . Winter is just refusing to leave lol. Thanks again, y'all have a great forum and I will be back posting more questions in a very short time ! Scott
  8. Buster, I will take you up on that offer . Will send a email asap. I'm in Lake Panorama, just across the valley. I was going to use T+C, bought most of my bikes and the kids bikes from them with no complaints. Who is John France ??? Thanks again for your insight JTT , much appreciated ! What's the diff between the pro and the TXT ? I can't seem to find a specific TXT model listed on the GG site. Also, what the heck is a long ride ?
  9. Honda, I'm fairly certain I would be happy with most any of the offerings. I chose the Gas Gas as I like what it has to offer regarding equipment standard and also due to the fact that I have a dealer very close. I always do my own wrenching but it's nice to know I have someone close should a problem arise that is beyond my skills. Thanks Jenk
  10. Thanks JTT, great info . I like the Hanson brother ava pic ! In fact, I use the same ava pic on the ZX-12r.org forum I help moderate . Kevin, I received a email from ateb and plan on calling him tomorrow. Small world, he rides in a town only 30 minutes from me. Sell the Katoom , that can't happen, gotta get my 2 stroke powerband fix every now and then !!! I have the money set aside for the trials bike purchase, just need to decide which Gas Gas. I have a dealer very close that will special order when I decide, assuming they are available. Next question... right now I am leaning towards the 280 Pro, don't really see the need for the 300. My dealer said he mostly sells the 200 Pro. Is it a safe assumption that the lower I go in displacement the less Tq I will have or is it different with the trials bikes ? Going on my MX 2 stroke experience alone, the 125's have very little bottom end while the 200-250's do alot better. Not sure if the same holds true with the trials bikes ??? If size matters I am 6'1 and 180 lbs.
  11. Okay, thanks again. I don't want a 4 stroke enduro right now so I'll keep my 250SX for the fast stuff and decide on which Gas Gas for the rocks, keeping it just for that purpose alone. No, which is better... red, silver or blue ?
  12. Thanks for the advice guys, I really appreciate your opinion and expertise. ateb, sent you a email. Okay, extended rides are out for a pro. How about simply pushing it down to my favorite washed out rock filled trail and staying low and slow in the tight technical stuff ? I'm talking about rides that I never leave first gear when I use the 250SX. That type of riding is suited for the pro ? Also, curious as to why the pro has 6 speeds. When you use all those gears in the tight stuff ? Sorry for all the questions. Looks like I have alot to learn. Thanks again !
  13. Hey guys, just found your site. I'm real close to picking up a Gas Gas 280 or 300 pro from a local dealer but I have a few questions. First off I normally ride my Ktm 250SX in the woods and MX track days. Works great on the track, real rough in the woods around here as they are filled with steep rocky hill climbs and tight technical riding. I'm thinking that the trials bike would be great for my single track stuff. My main concern is how well the bike will perform when I hit the open fire roads. I fully realize the bikes are not built for speed but where do they top out at in 6th gear ? Fuel consumption. How far can I go on less than 1 gallon of fuel ? I saw on another site a aux. tank which mounts to the forks ( Hebo ?). Even with that I am at only 4.0l. I'm 42 now and having been riding off road since age 7. At one time I had a 1974 Honda TL125, kinda wish I kept that bike. Last year I saw a Gas Gas trials bike and was amazed at how far they have come since my Honda. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I think the bike is going to be a blast in the rocks. Should improve my skills all around. I have trails within walking distance from my house that I avoid with the KTM due to their degree of difficulty. The trials bike should fit in nicely. Scott W.
