  1. All sorted now I picked up that Alp you mentioned and used the upper yolk and the pivot shaft. Then sold the bike to a guy in up island. Thanks for the tip.
  2. I recently broke the pivot hole out of the top yolk and bent the pivot post so I am trying to find a replacement. The beta synt has USD forks with an upper dim of 47mm and the lower dim of 48ish mm and the 2 fork holes in the yolks are 122mm from each other. I have seen a couple of beta yolk sets on ebay.uk for newer bikes one for a rev3 and one from a techno or zero but would like to know if they will fit or if there is any other options.
  3. Well rebuilt crank, new crank bearings, crank seals piston and rings, the engine is all back together and awaiting insertion into frame. Swingarm cracks getting welded. What I thought was a good deal turned out costing about the same as a good running bike I guess it was my turn to learn that one. Does anyone know what mixture should be run in a 93 synt? Also what type of oil should be in the gear case?
  4. Flywheel tool is 26x1.5mm a local shop pulled it off for me. Is there any chance that other model engine will fit (that is more abundant or easier to find not much onfo on synt's)? There is a fair bit of corrosion in the water pump area it didn't seem to be leaking but not sure how long it will last. The engine is apart and awaiting parts or a replacement engine or possibly give up on it due to the corrosion and possibly parts cost?
  5. Engine disassembly in progress just need a flywheel puller does anyone know what size the tool is?
  6. So out it comes, engine removed. Is there a manual for this bike available? 92/93 beta synt.
  7. OK update just pulled the cylinder and worst case scenario bottom connecting rod bearing is very worn so what are the chances of repairing that? I can pull the engine apart and reassemble it myself but can I send the crank to be rebuilt or just try to find another engine?
  8. I just picked up a very cheap beta synt with knowing it needed work. The to areas of concern are the rear brakes and top end noise. The rear brakes needed to be bled and in the process of doing that I disconnected the brake line from the calliper and a ball bearing fell out. What is this bearing for, at this point the brakes are bled and the ball was not put back in. The other area of concern is the top end rattle, the bike starts first kick and seams to run well I am hesitant to ride it like this. Listening to it with a screwdriver all the sounds are coming from the top end so it looks like piston and possibly more so where are parts available for this bike in Canada more specifically Vancouver Island?
  9. Have a look here see if you can recognize anything. http://www.americanbeta.com/beta-trials-models.html
  10. It doesn't look like that is a common class. Are you pulling my leg? As a mono I would have to compete in a normal class Beginner/novice but at that level it should be OK the bike will not be the issue? I think I should just get a bike that will not take lots of work to ride and ride/learn.
  11. Thanks for the advice quite cosistent with the responces new as you can is better, is what I read everywhere. I will hold out for a while and see what shows up. Dan
  12. I will be possibly looking at a fantic 403 monoshock aircooled drum brakes, as a beginner could I get through a few years of trials, and ridding with the locals and maybe at my first couple of events with this bike. Or is it hard to compete with the older bikes and a waste of time and money (tight) should I save for longer and get a newer bike or if it is in good shape go for it? Do any of you compete with your bikes and do OK? Dan
  13. Thanks for you responses So a couple of bikes possibly locally available are a Fantic 403 mono shock and possibly a 84 TY both bikes are mono shocks and most likely within budget would either bike be a bad starting place? And if it did lead to attempting a competition (novice beginer) would I get buy for a while or will the bike limit what competitions I can enter or my performance right away? Dan

    Fantic 403?

Thanks Another bike that might be available localy is a 84 TY that needs some work if both bikes are of similar age and condition how do they compare? Fantic thread so answer most likely biased but still interested in your knowlage and input. I imagine the TY parts would be easier to come by? I have no idea what this needs, rumours about one around for sale yet to be confirmed. Dan
