  1. I talked to one of the workers at the endurocross and they mentioned that the company has changed hands several times in the last couple of years. This year they only did 3 events because of all of the changes.

Supposedly the new owners are planning to double the number of events for next year and they want have more racers and classes.

Hopefully they bring back the trials races next year.

  2. I've been using various Betas on trails for years. This is because there aren't many people in my area to ride trials with. I've done lots of trails with no seat (before Beta offered a seat) and gas bottles in my pack. Just this year I bought an Evo with a seat for the extra fuel capacity.

Most of the time a trials bike makes everything much easier. The only times I've been at a disadvantage with a trials bike is on big loose hill climbs and sand. However, the knowledge that I don't have to wrestle a 300 lb monster when I don't make a hill climb is priceless.

For trail rides I would buy an Evo 250 with a seat, trials tire, and higher gearing.

Same as mine. Was awesome to start with. Now I’m slightly spooked. It’ll be a few weeks before I get the rest of the parts to try the cam follower with the smaller bearing but I’ll post once I get it all together.

My new to me Evo jumped out of gear twice last night, pretty frustrating.

    I'll be following along.

I unexpectedly exploded the map switch in a section while riding the Nationals this spring. While splicing the wires back to a nuetral position I could not remember which to connect. I taped each wire up with no connection. Best choice I ever made. Just dumb as crap to put anything in a spot that get`s crunched. And my bike looks better uncluttered.

    Good to hear!

  5. One of the previous owners of my 2013 Evo 300 removed the Map switch. I have not yet inspected the wiring to determine exactly what was done. The bike runs fine.

Does the switch itself do anything more than open and close a circuit?

Is there any reason to remove the Map switch?

Actually the best thing I did was go to 6 lighter springs. I first did that on my 2010 and also in my 2016. No cold stick, no drag and yes it never slips.

Do you have any information on the lighter springs?

Is there any particular oil that might help? Maybe a different weight?

I just picked up a 2013 Evo and the clutch sticks when cold. The clutch in the Techno I just sold worked perfectly after the fix.

  7. The end of last summer the swing arm on my '99 techno basically tore in half. I've had the bike for most of it's life. I don't think i do anything too crazy with it...

Has anyone had experience with this??? I've never broke a swing arm like this before.

Just talked to a beta dealer close to where i live and he said something like $550 for a new one.

Give me a minute and i'll get a pic up...

  8. thanks!

the funny thing is that this particular swing arm has been repaired once already (where the suspension linkage bolts on). Right now the swing arm is nearly ripped in half. the aluminum came appart in the center of the swing arm and there is less than 1cm of material holding the halvs of the swing arm together.

I'm searching the web right now to at least find a price for a new arm...

  9. Yea, i have looked on the beta usa page. i have called a couple of the places listed for this area but didn't get anyone. I've also sent out a email to my old supplier. I'm sure there are places in Utah i just don't get down there much.

If i don't have any luck down here i'll look into that place in elko.

Are there any good internet stores for old beta parts around? I do pretty much all of my jeep stuff online with the different vendors.

  10. Howdy all, I'm Josh

I've been looking for some more info and people into trials for a while now and came across this site. This looks like the best forum around to get connected.

Trials has been in my family for around 30 years. Enthusiasm here in Idaho Falls seems to come and go. At one point we almost had a club going then things slowed down and that happend serveral times (though we never got close to starting a club again). Currently I don't know anybody around here that actively rides anymore.

At then end of last summer the swing arm on my '99 techno broke in half. :wall: I haven't fixed it because of the snow and my jeep (i do alot with local offroading clubs around here). I would like to find some good vendors in the states. In years past I got all my parts from Top Notch Trials, then Northern Utah Trials Supply.

Here are some pics just for fun
