    2012 Ossa Tr 2801

Hi there guys, have just come back from my first outing on the new bike, all went well! Decided when i got home to drop the factory oil, removed the drain plug as per manual and got about 100mls out i guess, someone told me to just lay it over a touch to get the rest! HA;HA! Well i laid it right over on its side in the end, nothing until i stood it back upright then another 100 mls,so in total measured into a jug i managed to get 200mls (and it was over the sight glass from dealer). Not sure where they get 350mls from or where the rest is? I have put 250mls back and its way over the sight glass. So whats the trick to drain these suckers properly?? Peter.
  3. Hi Borus, thanks for all that info and pics, now i can see how it works,as it wears into the rubber stop the clearance will increase i think, mine is about 1.5mm of the frame at the moment.Cheers.
  4. Thanks you guys, yes your correct about the bike being unique and it appears there is certain ways to remove different things,(like the air-cleaner)thats a challenge, its great to see some genuine interest and mateship in the Ossa community, have not really experienced that with other brands of bikes,i guess i have never been a member of a forum either, only joined a few months back to ask some questions about the Ossa when trying to decide between it and the Gasser. Next question, how close to the frame is your kickstarter in the (folded away posistion)? Mine is nearly touching, but i assume if i were to shift it on the internal splines it will be way too forward? Cheers again guys.
  5. Hi borus, thanks for that,i was driving to a mates place today and the thought crossed my mind that it may come out that way, some bikes the locating pin/dowel that the calipper slides on has flats so you can only slide the wheel straight back, not upwards, but not the Ossa obviously. Thanks for that,i just have to get the knack of starting this sucker, its got zero hours on it at the moment and does not want to start with any less than a dozen kicks! Cheers.
  6. Hi there guys, well i finally have my new 2012 TR280i in the garage,if it ever stops raining i will be able to take it for a ride.Anyway getting to the chase,i went to remove the rear wheel for a wee look and check the axle for lube, drooped the chain, removed the axle and proceeded to slide the rear wheel back and what do you know, the heads of the rear disc bolts catch the inside of the calliper assembley, am i missing something here,i have had many bikes over the last 30 years but have not had this before, surely you dont have to remove some disc bolts first? Peter.

    OSSA TR 280I (2012)

Hi Mark, many thanks for your valuable input and the tips on those few things, was going to get a new Gasser but just felt like something different and the Ossa fits the bill, and looks pretty well put together. Yeah there is some "doubters" out there who wont buy one yet,ha if we all did that they would never sell any! Many Thanks,Peter.

    OSSA TR 280I (2012)

Hi there (sdeaneo1),just thought i would reply and say i had just placed an order for a new (2012) model from the dealer(Don)who i believe is in your club in Canberra. The next shipment of Ossa's is not due for a few weeks yet (25) bikes in all and only (7) left for sale, looks like there gaining popularity. Thanks for your input.

    OSSA TR 280I (2012)

Hi there, the bike had been ridden for at least a full day with various grade riders at a test day the previous weekend before as far as i know! The dealer was present the day we rode it, all else aside it started well and ran well, brakes felt real strong, rear suspension was just beautiful as everybody suggests, the overall package looks very smart in the new trim and colour, its a pity they have not put the (two position) mapping switch on the 2012 model that was on the 100th Scottish Six Day Anniversary model like Sherco and Gasgas.

    OSSA TR 280I (2012)

Hi there, yeah you just feel it wanting to push the bike a little, But i do know what you mean about most bikes not being great at selecting neutral while being stationary with the motor going,i had a 2001 321 Gasser which was ok,different clutch pack though, latest Gassers and Ossas are using a diaphragm type, thats why Gassers can do the same at times. A few Ossa dealers have said this improves with hours on the bike, another mentioned (synthetic atf fluid) in the gearbox, some claiming never a problem!

    OSSA TR 280I (2012)

Hi there all,new at this forum buisness so go easy on me,i thought i was close to buying a new OSSA TR280 (2012),but managed to get a ride on a 2012 model at a test ride day last week,i was very disappointed in the clutch drag the bike had and neutral was totally (unselectable)with the motor going ,i realize this has been a sore point on some or most of the bikes, just wondered what all you owners have done (oil type and adjustment wise) to overcome this problem? I have sent of emails to quiet a few dealers in a few countries and this is not an isolated problem, some have found the AJP master cylinders bypassing from new and need a repair kit installing and say you need to use a (Synthetic ATF) oil in the gearbox to help with the drag and minimize this problem! Any advice on this matter would be appreciated from you guys that already have one of these innovative and great looking machines! digga. From Down Under.

    2012 improvement?

Hi there guys, just joined the forum and was chasing some info on the new (2012)Ossa tr-280i,just test rode one yesterday and loved it except the "clutch drag" was really severe! Didn't really affect the riding greatly but finding neutral was impossible, the dealer didn't seem to concerned about it but have seen it mentioned on several occasions on forums,i thought this may have been soughted on the 2012 model seeing that was one of the listed 2012 upgrades (new clutch plates),what oils have been tried or adjustments done to overcome this problem as i would love to buy one but not sure if i could put up with it the way it was.
