i recently got a 2010 250 gasser for your budget, proper love it but i tried all the other types and found gasser felt best for me (probably because i have only ever ridden gas gas) get whichever bike feels nicest to ride for you, perhaps try going to a dealers and rideing a few around before buying. i didn't think i would notice that much of a difference in the way the bikes felt but they really were words apart..

id go for a 250, go for a bike on condition. take a look at around your budget and maybe a little over as once you creep nearer £2000 you get some really good bikes. buy on condition and how it has been looked after. you will love it. as for places to ride no one really gives away their locations much as they are a bit thin on the ground, but you will find yourself a few places, it just seems to happen

So I have a bike! Picked up a 2010 txt 250... I love it, the power is so useable and the control of the bike feels very intuitive... Especially as I have just upgraded from a knackered 1998 txt270 which felt like riding a bag of potatoes.....

looked for one to buy! then i can join in on the garage clutch action you all seem to enjoy so much

yeah i wouldn't mind a 250 although i don't find engine size too much of an issue, have ridden my old 270 and a montesa 315. i am going to try all different types of machine and get the one that feels best. what big differences did you notice between the 290 and 250 was it purely engine power or maneuverability etc?

hi, im jon, from cornwall. i bought an old 1998 gas gas txt270 a couple years ago and rode it to death. i am now looking for another bike albeit a fair bit newer this time, something like a 2008 (gas gas or sherco etc.. depending which feels best on test ride) any recommendations? anyway thought id sign up and say hi as this site seems a great place. hope to catch a few of you at a trial in the near future (will be my first ever trial!) ill most likely be the one on my side, in the stream. cheers jon
