  1. Jon, this guy lost his motor last year and just now finished it. I doubt that it is the spacer causing the ping. He was chasing timing and now the intake. Either he has an air leak or a carb issue.

    i bought the bike last year knowing nothing about trials or gas gas. When i bought the bike it was overheating after 20 mins so bought the following

    water pump repair kit

    head o rings

    rectifier (which it never had on when bought)

    Piston kit size b

    air filter

    It was running without a rectifier witch was the problem.

    after installing all these new parts it was fine for bout 100 hrs then top end bearing went then bottom went so 3 months ago got a new crank bearing rod and another top end bearing.

    Due to work i only got piston rings this week thinking everything would be okay. but upon starting it was knocking which at first i thought was piston slap then i didnt know if it was pinging/detonation.

    but now thanks to jse/jon i now know its defently piston clearance nikosil coating has worn through.

    but i started this thread cause i am getting detonation due to an air leak and wondering about this spacer

    also u made a good point about the casing becuase looking at now its not flush together.

    again when i recieved my gasket kit it had 2 crank case gaskets in it

  2. Hi all just goin over my 2002 txt pro trying to find y my engine is pinging and noticed theres a reed block spacer is this a mod becuase i cant find it in the parts list. also if these are put in wrong order could this be the cause.

    what order do they go in

  3. Just goin over the bike again lol and noticed there is a reed block spacer? And i've just gone through parts list and cant find this spacer.also which order do they go

    spacer/reeds/rubber manifold ?? Or

    reeds/spacer/manifold ???? Also noticed the spacer is cut at an angle ??

    do you know owt about timing?

    they told me if u aint got something good to say, dont say Nothing at all..... lol

  5. You dont need a full clutch pack just measure the hight of the fingers and you can buy different thickness steel plates to bring the finger hieght up. you can do this to adjust clutch lightness.

    I had this problem when i got mine. I decided to go on atf oil wich swelled the fibers up. All i needed was 1 different thickness steel plate hope this helps there are plenty of threads on ere about clutch pack measurments

  6. Have you checked the squish clearance when refitting cylinder head?

    Crank rebuild - did this include new connecting rod?

    cheers dad at wotk at min but wen i get bk ill recheck squish and yes new rod

    ill be honest wen i rebuilt engine and started it i mistaken the pinging for piston slap as i didnt know anything about detonation so i rang gas gas up they said keep ading base gaskets which altered the port timining is this the reason for it overheating what happens wen u raise cylinder cheers again

    Leak test, You need to blank off inlet with blanking plate / bung. Leave the reeds in but prop them open. Fit a blanking plate to exhaust outlet on barrel with tyre valve in it and pressurise engine to between 5 and 10 PSI and see if it drops over a few minutes period.

    its just wen i rebuilt think ive advanced the timing

    plz HOW DO I RETARD THE IGNITION ANYONE

  8. Thnx for replie the txt pro has no stator plate

    the stator has 3 fixed bolt holes with slight play i think so you can ajust timing again i think

    but also can the pick up sensor be moved to ajust timing

  9. Hi all ive just put engine back together on my txt pro 2002 after a crank rebuild and my engine is pinging

    call me stupid but think i may of advanced my timing

    which way do you turn the stator to retard it slightly

  10. So what really happened, during the two wide open throttle episodes you blew so much grap out of the dirty exhaust to plug it up. My son`s Raga just did a similar thing two weeks ago. The perforated tube in the silencer broke it`s weld and the packing plugged it up as I tried to

    clear it out with the motor.

    yeah must have but i can say i have been running rich before all this. So it has built up then overtime.

    i can say the pipes to exhuast wasnt blocked just the mesh and when i burnt it about 1/2 a litre of black oil poured out.

    just glad i can go play tomoz

    air flow was restricted from my middle box and silencer i just took silencer off it was still same so took middle box off VERY LOUD but it revved out whoop whoop

    so poured petrol in burt all oil out and now ive got better throttle response than ever cheers to all

    the slide didnt come with a needle used the original the slide size is a 60 same as before i think the clip is positioned on the 2nd recess

    also the main jet is that the one holding float bowl on

    i removed and cleaned all jets except the one that spring up and down. i will strip down tomorrow re clean

  13. hi all. i was out last weekend and my throttle stuck open twice
    so got in shed changed throttle cable and slide as the slide was badly worn making it stick open. i also cleaned carb and jets with carb cleaner
    i thought everything was fine throttle worked fine no sticking open
    so i got bike back out but its just not running right on half and full throttle. So back in shed thought reed petals
    put new reeds in started it up and its stiill the same
    the bike run fine before i changed cable and the slide
    plz plz plz Help

    could it be jetting can it just suddenly require differnt size jets plz help want to b playing this weekend
