  1. the kill switch that is on came with the bike, the new plug had only done one outing plus a couple of hours on Saturday before it gave up.the kill switch is separate to the throttle and looks quite old,i guess I will find out whether it was a bad(new plug) or something else after we have another couple of outings.i think now that a lot of things are mass produced to quite a low standard
  2. so 10-40 or 5-30 either will work with the new clutch? as for the ty it is running on about 30-40:1(just been re-bored and had less than one tank of fuel through it)
  3. hi,i'm going to be fitting a new clutch, and after checking which oil to use it says on a couple of gg websites 10w40 and the other says 5w30 and i'm sure one said not a synthetic oil??? on our gg125(1993) we use a 75w(i think) also unsure what fuel mix ratio i should use,one the gg 125 and sherco 290 i use 80-1 and i was going to use the same mix for the gg 80 until i found on a website that it should be 50-1 and another said 1.5%????? information overload!!!!
  4. seems to have bled up ok but still pulls away or stalls with the clutch lever pulled in so ordered a new clutch today!!!
  5. hi lineaway, yes they are different, the 125 is a 1993 and the clutch sevo is on the flywheel side and goes through the engine and through from the back of the clutch and pushes outwards,on the 80 the sevo/slave is built in to the side casing(opposite side to the 125) and pushes the clutch inwards.
  6. hi all, just bought a 2002 gas gas 80 for my son, pretty much clutch not working at all, there was no fluid in the master cylinder so put new fluid in and it would not bleed,so put new seal/piston set in and it seamed to bleed up(after a while) but when running pull clutch lever in select gear and it pulls away or stalls,so i changed engine oil and still the same(the oil which i took out was almost like a green metallic/pearlescent) unsure if the brake fluid is leaking from the sevo into the engine, personally i think the clutch is knackered(although it looks perfect)we had similar issues with our gg 125 as soon as it was put into gear it tried to pull away with the clutch still in so we put a complete lever/ master cylinder it was still the same,we took the old clutch out which looked perfect but we changed it any way and it was problem solved. have i just answered my own question!!!
  7. hi,problem solved.it was the spark plug(quite a new one as well)when i originally checked it the spark must have been coming from the threads of the plug as when i rechecked there was no spark from the end of the plug(schoolboy error!!) i'm now going to the gas gas forum to ask about our gas gas 80 clutch issue once again many thanks
  8. hi totty 79, small world,we left not long after you, didn't think it was fair me and the oldest son playing on the bikes and the little one video-ing on the phone, the oldest son loved it, it was his first time on a trials bike and he done quite well
  9. hi again, thanks for the advice,i'm going out this morning to have a look and if I find the problem I will let you's know many thanks
  10. hi b40rt the plug was wet,and had a very strong spark?? didn't even want to try and start, but it was running fine when we turned it off. i might pull the bike apart tomorrow if i get time, possibly check the cylinder bore and rings(they should be fine as my son was very gentle on the throttle but you never know?)just seams strange as it never actually broke down thanks shaun
  11. hi everyone,if anyone can shine a light on this i would be very grateful,we have among other bikes a ty80 which has just had a re bore, new piston etc etc(carb rebuild kit about 3 outings ago) so today our first outing since the re bore and after about 1-2 hrs of gentle riding(no more than half revs) with a couple of little breaks in between we stopped for something to eat and drink(20 mins) and when we went to start it it wouldn't start, there's a good spark, stripped carb and nice and clean and clear?? seams strange as it didn't break down,we stopped it.
  12. hi dave,i'm new here also(1 week old and from gateshead) like yourself i have just gotten my first trials bike(2002 290)can't give you any tips but sure there will be plenty of others who will. i phoned warden law the other day(karting n.e.) and they allow trials bikes 7 days a week, they said £15 per day,or £15 to join and £10 per day(membership is jan-dec)up until me and the kids got trials bikes we used to go to pea farm on the dirt bikes,it is somewhere to ride your bike but probably more set up for mx bikes, that's also 7 days a week shaun
  13. hi chris, thanks for the offer,i live in gateshead,i was going to have to buy a flywheel puller and i was going to borrow a friends 12v(car battery connection) windy/electric gun but i don't think much of them? so i possibly will take you up on your kind offer many thanks shaun
  14. thanks for that tony27, i want to get a couple of more days out on it then should be doing the work in a couple of weeks hopefully
  15. hi everyone, this is my first post(of many,no doubt) probably been covered many times but couldn,t find any(probably looking in the wrong sections of the forum) i am shortly going to be stripping down the bottom of my 2002 290 as i have a growling type noise coming from my bottom end(of the bike) what i was wanting help with is the parts needed and possibly some tips as which is the best way to do it, after a little research i think i will need, 2 main bearings and two crank shaft seals, possibly big end bearing, clutch case gasket, crank case gasket, think i need a gear selector return spring, a clutch holding tool and a flywheel puller, and i will need to inspect bearing/s in gearbox section. don't know if i've missed much out, will i need a cylinder base gasket? many thanks in advance
