  1. Canada280i - you're absolutely right... my PC's port is VGA... yesterday I tried the three drivers from the website link you sent and it hasn't worked so far... so it may be the OS/Windows 7 (?) My options at this point seem to be: a. I'll see if the IT guy at work knows a way around this b. ... or has a laptop with XP available (doubt it)...or c. Check whether there is an adapter from serial to HDMI (?)... which the PC also has a port for it...
  2. Hey Guys, Actually, I tried tonight and found out: (1) my cable is actually not "Serial" but a smaller one (see pic below), I was confused with its name but can't remember how's it called, (2) good news my PC has one of those (female) ports as well, and (3) the problem with the current USB-cable seems to be the PC-Driver for the adapter to USB (according to the device manager in windows). My Windows is 7 home edition. I downloaded a couple drivers for the USB-adapter from internet with no success (after about 1 hr battle)... so plan B is to get a "male-to-male" adapter for the terminal on the pic below and plug it directly into my PC eliminating the USB adapter. I hope that works... BTW, I'm in Canada too (Calgary).
  3. ok, that's good news as you said before I'll try tonight again once I'm back home... I was thinking whether the cold temperatures (unheated garage) can affect those electronics ?
  4. Yes, my cable is a Serial-Cable, then it has an adapter from serial-to-SUB. Q - so does the pump should make noise and then shuts-off? or should stay on all the time?... mine shuts-off after 3 seconds...
  5. Finally, after spending literally hours looking for the crocodiles clamps and visiting 6 hardware stores... found them on the "Dollar-Store"... go figure eh? See Picture Below When I connect the power supply (adjustable voltage regulator, 12V and 1,200 amp) the "Fuel Pump" kicks in just for about 3 seconds, then shuts-off ???? At the other end on the PC, after I click on diagnosis and the ports windows comes up, an error messages comes that says "Cannot connect to ECU" ??? What should I do here???
  6. Hey Guys... thanks again ! Lotus - I was able to remove the red-cap "A"... what a bummer... but eh... it's off :-) Canada280i - I found where to connect the 12v supply (I think) - thanks a lot for that too. Now, I'll need to find the 12v Supply, battery or I guess a regulator should work too, right?... what about polarity when connecting it to the harness?... either way works? Do you have any pictures of that power supply set-up? Then, I guess I connect the diagnostic-cable, power up the PC, start the KScan... and then ?
  7. First of all thanks for your replies ! I've already kicked the bike a few times with no spark plug in there... I did it for: (a) test the fuel-pump, and trying to test some voltage getting into the spark-plug-cap... so I hope I didn't fried any electronics (??)... that would be a killer :-( Lotus54 - thanks for indicating how to connect the cable and etc. I'll try to remove that cap on "A", plug the cable and give that software a try (first time ever). Canada280i - How does one power the system with a 12v supply ???
  8. Hi Guys, My 2012 Tr280i Ossa shut-off while riding and did not want to start again. I’ve already check the spark plug (was dirty/black), checked the air filter (was clean) and checked that the gas pump was working and it was. Then, I replaced the spark plug … but still... doesn’t want to start. I guess the next step to test should be whether there is electricity or spark being generated?... however. the spark-plug cap is so deep that it seems pointless to put it against the frame and kick it to check it (as on a regular carb bike) + this one being a fuel injected… I don’t know whether the best thing to check is through the “Diagnostic Software” ? or is there any other step to check ???? Last year I got my hands on an Ossa Diagnostics kit… but no idea how to connect it, neither how to run it ??? I’ve try to find where to plug the 4-pin female connection from the cable… but I only find as picture below. Questions: How can I connect the diagnostics cable? Based on the attached "connections" picture... Should I connect the cable on “A” ?... if so do I need to remove the red cap?... and if so, how to remove it…I haven’t been able? “B” comes from the rear brake ???, “C” comes from the harness ????. “D” goes to what seems a copper “something” on the cylinder-head-cover???. “E” is the cable (blue) that I believe comes from the engine into the “Ignition Coil” that goes to the spark plug. Can it be tested with a volt-meter? How to run the software?... I do have a CD with KScan, Kwrite data PC, and KWrite Pro ???? Where do I go from here… I’m lost in the weeds… fixing this trouble bike is my only good chance for riding… Looking for answers to the above questions and other pointers as well. Thanks !
  9. Thanks lineaway... it seems I should keep my upper body straight... I'll try that !
  10. MX boots... no money for the trials ones :-(
  11. Here a picture... as I couldn't load up the video...
  12. Well... first of all, sincere thanks again to all and each of you ! I've been going trough each of your comments and taken notes to start practicing on them Just for the record...I've found your comments helpful. Not sure whether I'll be able to load up a video to share... but I'll try. Thanks again !!! ricarvar
  13. ... thank you guys... I'll check those videos to see if I can find the "Leg-lifting" technique... I'd really like to understand it. Keep it coming... and Happy Holidays !
  14. Hello Guys, I got a couple of dummy questions here as a relative rookie... as winter is here and can't get out I'm trying to practice some static balance on my trials bike. As such the bike is off and on flat ground. I haven't been able to find much detailed techniques to improve balance on such conditions... so I have a couple of findings from my own and some questions... if you can please provide sound feedback on it, I'd appreciate it! Findings 1. Start with the handlebar straight - apparently at some point people develops a preferred site to lock the handle bar... in my case, starting with it in the middle/straight position helps me correct unbalance as per item below 2. If the motorcycle is tilting/falling towards one side, turning the handlebar towards that same side helps (up to some extent) recover your balance 3. Try to start with the bike as vertical/balanced as possible and try to move it lateral the minimum possible when lifting up your final foot - the more balanced you start the easier to keep it 4. Bend your knees 5. Keep your knees pointing outward - I made huge mistake for long trying to balance with knees inward... what a pain; til finally got that (from a hard to find video not even related to this topic)... huge help :-) 6. Apparently, with the bike off is harder than with the bike on (?) - might be the inertia thing... not sure though 7. Subtle movements should help... although I'm not there yet 8. Front brake helps Questions a. I have seen guys lifting a leg perpendicular to the side of the bike to keep balance. How that works?, I mean, do you lift the leg on the same side the bike is tilting towards... or the opposite?... I haven't been able to even tell the difference... as I still loose it either way...lol ??? b. Up to what point/angle the technique above helps? c. What to do after that?, I mean if it's tilted more than that limit ? d. Any other tips to keep static balance??? e. Why it's so hard to find videos for these kind of details?... any of you guys up there willing to help all of us poor rookies trying to get in it? :-) Thanks and God Bless!

    Help 2011 Tr280I

Hello There, I'm quite new to trials and in fact motorcycles. I just got my new "used" 2011 Ossa Tr280i to finally start learning about it. I've just been a couple of hours on it and decided to give it a good clean from its previous owner... and the fun began; while taking off all the dirt and grease I found a couple of issues listed below,...that have not idea how's better to address... so any tips, suggestions and recommendations will be appreciated. 1. Crack in the muffler - close to where it connects to the exhaust (see pic) 2. No clip master link - I only know the chain says "Iris" on the links. What should I know to get a new clip master link?... how to order it or buy it from a typical motorcycle parts store? 3. Loose hose... don't know where it connects (?). I'm crazy to ride it... is like watching a cool tasty ice cream from the outside glass on a hotty summer day... Thanks in advance !!! ricarvar
