  1. I have my bike in pieces at the mo for some maint and to try solve my oil prob. It struck me now would be a good time to de-coke the can. Whats the preferred way of doing this ? Is there a product on the market suitable for a deep clean ? Ta carl
  2. Cheers folks. That all gives me something to aim for . Here is another question as im looking at the manuals on line. My bike was originally a 250 but somewhere along the line its has either had a 320 head fitted or whole new engine. Q, Can a 320 head be retro fitted keeping existing lower casing. I presume the crank etc would be that same anyway on either the 250 or 320? in which case i would be looking at 250 parts list on the GasGas site ?
  3. I was hoping it was as simple as re routing the breather hose to a higher position . If I need to dig into the engine what should I be looking for if its not the centre bolt ?
  4. Aha, Does this sound like my problem too ?
  5. Hi all, I have an old 2001 txt which seems to be pumping oil out of the crank breather pipe! Thats what I have pictured, right, the thicker tube ? In the end of the thicker red tube was this plug So, tech guys. What is the likely reason it would be pumping oil out and how would one fix it ? Thank you for your time. carl
  6. I havent yet... Good point !!
  7. I have an oil leak I think its coming from the crank case housing but havent investigated too thoroughly yet. ATM its running like a total loss system ! Couple of Qs if I may Where would I source a new gasket here in the UK ? There seems to be a few trials type stores on these shores but is there 'the best' shop to go to here in Blighty ? Or, does anyone make their own ? And, I dont suppose there is such thing as a Haynes type of manual for these bikes ? Here is my crank case. I think I have a 2000 txt ! ? Thanks for any help Carl
  8. I dont feel quite as bad now
  9. Hi folks My name is Carl and just getting back into riding after 'giving up' around 15 years ago. I dont do it seriously and will never compete ( Im nearly 50 and not as fixable as I once was ) but I like to scramble around and generally just have fun. A little while ago I bought a 2001 GasGas with a 320 head on it. I will keep this for a while and fingers crossed buy something newer further down the line. I am so fortunate in that I have a great area to go scramble about in literally 5 minutes away from my home in a 16 acre old quarry! So if anyone here goes to the old Betchworth Quarry in Surrey, I will see you there ! Pic of the 'new' bike and me 3 stone ago when I could get the front wheel up Carl
