hi i have recently got a sherco 290 2004, i doing ok with it but as a complete beginner im have problems with the power and im always fighting it. i have changed the throttle and timing. i think i have started with a bike that scares the life out of me! another problem is i only weigh 11 stone although im 5ft 10 tall i have problems starting it!
the question is, do i sell it and get a sherco 125 to start and maybe move back up again when i have more confidence.
what you think?
ps. i have also been told it has slight piston slap and if i get it fixed it will have even more power?
i always use a new plug so dont think its the plug but im gonna change it again tomorrow. when i do the screw what is the correct process in doing it? do i do it with the bike running? do i tightening it up first then un screw it 3.5turns?
I need help! I have sherco 290 2004 and went out on first trial last weekend and my bike started fine after about 3 kicks with no throttle, then when i stopped it at each section it was about 10 kicks before it went again!
i then stopped for lunch and it wouldn't start at all until some guy helped me by turning the fuel off then kicked it few times then put fuel back on and gave it some choke and it started! he said he thought the mixture was not right but i cant remember if he said it was to rich or to dry? and which way i should turn the screw? and which screw?
So has anyone got idea what could be happening?
i kept the bike running all afternoon and only gave one dab away! hence love the sport and bike apart from killing myself trying to start the blooming thing!
hi im having nearly the same problems. mine is very hard to start then i read on tc that i was to use no throttle and it now starts about 3rd kick will not start after i stop it at each section and when i stopped for lunch i couldn't start it? i ahve read somewhere it could be the mixture screw? any one got any ideas?
i ve got to change my gear box oil for the first time on my sherco 2004 290. what oil should i use as i have no trials shops near me. help please as im having problems changing up and have been advised to do this first.
yes new to it all. im in sussex and have no one local to look at it and nearest shop 50 miles away and dont have bike rack yet as spent a bit more than i had budgeted and got this 2004.
hi just brought sherco 290 and the bloke i brought it off said he had not rode it for a while. when i tested it only went in 1st and 2nd. i still haven't given it a real day out yet but rode it up the road last night and couldn't get 3rd etc.
i am a novice and i am worried i have brought a duff bike?
just got a 2004 290 sherco last weekend. when i tried it it was fine. went out today for the first time and it just cut out after about 500 yards, rev.d up abit on its own then stopped? felt like petrol not getting through.
any ideas? i am a complete novice and would really like some help before taking it the my nearest shop which is 40 miles away and i haven't brought my bike rack yet!
just brought a sherco 290 and have read lot of different advise oil ratios, i have just been down to local mx shop (no trials shops where i live) and they have sold me putoline mx7 100% fully synthetic 2 stroke oil.
is this any good and what shold the correct ratio be for a beginner?
just brought a 2004 sherco and as this is my first bike i really need a basic owners manual. having problems with petrol and what type of oil do i use. i have tried sherco web site all there is is a page with not much detail how to and when to do things?
hello, im back to riding trials bikes after 20 years(just pottering around and watching), just brought a 1984 yamaha ty125 so i can take it on the road until i pass my full test. anyway i have 3 questions to start.
a) Is there any trials shops in sussex? i want to get a trials helmet but dont know what size to get?
B)I have some o'neal motorcross boots and they are very heavy are trials boots lighter?
c) and finally when is the next trial in the brighton area?

i have just sold my car and wont be getting a new one for a few months!!
the wife has got a mercedes a class.
Does any one know if i could fit a towbar to her a class and then fit my dave cooper rack to it which came of a 4x4??????
