  1. I have a 2021 escape and trying to find bar ends that fit. I bought a set of Jitsies from TryalsShopUSA, and they don't fit. my digital calipers say the ID of my bars is 10.83 mm. not even the 10mm nut fits in, where tip to tip on the 10mm nut is 11.27mm and the shank of the bar end itself is 13.57mm. These: https://www.tryalsshop.com/Bar-Ends-Plug-Handlebar-Jitsie-p59827689 Are these the same size bars as the Epure that folks are using the S3 or Zeta in? Mike at TryalsShop said his webmaster has an EM and used the Zeta bar ends but the size appeared identical to the Jitsies so I am confused. Will I need to drill out my bars or..?
  2. I ended up getting the display replaced under warranty. When I went to replace the old one I found the connector was damaged and loose. The new display is fine though the length of wire on both is too tight for my liking. So I think the water / bad connection theory was a good one.
  3. I've been really enjoying my Escape over the last few months doing both slow and faster riding. I have started having a problem or two and wanted to see if other riders had encountered them (I've put the question to my dealer as well) They can happen and last for a few seconds a minute then it starts working normally. 1.The display shows F1, F2, or F3 instead of battery level. typically only appear while I am on throttle or regen braking. 2. The display fully turns off I'll keep riding along and eventually the display returns. Anyone else seen this?
  4. I was able to get it - I was using a ring spanner. the front left (clutch side) was a real #$!%@. the gap is so small between the nut and cylinder on the 2017 contact (maybe 1/8") that I had to grind down a ring spanner to get around it. Thanks all, cylinder removed and off for a swap!
  5. I got ahold of Jim Snell with Rising Sun and I'm going to do a cylinder swap. I've gotten as far as unbolting the cylinder - some of the bolts are pretty hard to get to - especially the back right under the exhaust. can't get a socket on it - well I can get the socket but not an extension / driver and a spanner doesn't have room to turn - and also seems a little loose fit so I don't want to strip I did use some heat on the others and that helped. What tools do you use to remove the cylinder? I think I will have a little more room if I remove the exhaust, so I'll try that once getting on a center stand to remove the rear shock bolt
  6. Thanks @arnoux and @lineaway - that's very helpful! I'll give it a go.
  7. I've got a 2017 GasGas Contact, and I need to check out the top end after a cold seizure (different story / post 😔). I've found a service manual with information on disassembling the motor, but it doesn't include steps to remove the motor from the frame. I'm relatively comfortable working on bikes, but I though I would check if anyone has some tips / gotchas or even a manual as that may save me some headaches :) Are there any parts that need to be replaced when removing the motor from the frame? Thank you!
  8. Update: my search is over but that's because I tried a suggestion of loosening my starter motor bolts to see if it was binding. sure enough it turned over great and my current battery appears fine. I found out Earth battery that looked close, though actually quite a bit smaller in height / depth so I wonder if it would be strong enough. Cheers!
  9. Hey all, I picked up a 2017 GasGas Contact 250. The battery won't turn over the motor reliably, I may get 1 revolution every 3 presses of the button, if the motor is cold. I am thinking it's the battery, there's a replacement one in there. I was trying to find the dimensions / specs of the original battery or folks recommenations for a replacement. The ownes manual for the 2017 Contact doesn't actually have the battery or seat in it at all. Here's what's in there, I cannot find an exact replacement for this, I suspect the size of the original may be a little different, the models in the replaces list all look a bit bigger. what's in there: Power Thunder LFP7Z. I measure as 4 3/16 x 3 9/16 x 2 1/4 Replaces: YTZ7S, YTX7A-BS, YB9L-AZ, YB9L-B, YB9A-AZ, YB9L-B, YB9A-A, YB9-B, 12N9-4B-1, 12N9-3A, 12N9-3B And for those that might say who needs a battery, I actually had taken the seat / battery off, until I broke the kickstarter lever today, so I have no way to start at all right now.. I was using a charger on the Li-Ion battery though not a Lithium specific one, so I've ordering one of those as well. Thanks in advance!
