  1. I have a fabulous Cub that had a Montesa conical hub rear wheel in it which worked very well and polished up nicely almost matching the REH in the front.  I have since sourced a REH rear and sold on the Montesa rear wheel.  I am having a clear out in the garage and found a 66T 420 pitch Talon sprocket I had made for the Montesa rear wheel.  If anyone is using a similar wheel and would like this sprocket it is free of charge as long as you collect or cover the postage.  The sprocket number is TR232.

His is a list of the Prefix Letters, that I came across some years ago,

I’m afraid I cannot credit the source of the document as I cannot recall who the Author was.

Thank you Model80, that is very useful.

RM is one of the prefixes Bultaco used on engine numbers. The R is the capacity and the M is for motor.

The A at the end means it is from a model 198A not from a model 198

Thank you, that explains it and also explains my other bike which is just a 198!

The spacer is 23mm long. I can't remember the exact OD but it sits inside the bearing oil seal, so whatever that is. Make sure you have the inner bush/sleeve that sits inside the fork leg as this acts together with the spacer to position the spindle correctly. I'm not sure if In Motion have the spacer, I think they have the bush.

Also make sure you have the top hat spacer that sits in oil seal on the other side of the hub, inside the brake plate

Thanks Woody, it is the top hat spacer on the brake plate side that is missing, I didn't realise they had one!  That must be what John was referring to in his note tome.

I find the best way to date a gasgas is to buy it some flowers and a bottle of oil. Then just ask it out. Simple and ever fails !!

I knew I was asking for trouble as soon as I posted that one!

  6. I am breaking a 2007 Gas Gas Pro 125 engine for spares.  I think most parts but the top end are common the the 200 Pro but I wonder if anyone knows are any other parts common to other models?  Apart from wanting to get the best offer when I auction them, I was to be sure to reach people who may be struggling to find these bits.

The left side spacer you need is this one (part  # 67.04 - 009).

As Woody says, this is used in conjunction with a split spacer in the spindle clamp at the bottom of the fork slider.

The left side "top hat" spacer behind the brake plate (part  # 20.04 - 009) is this one :-

As an aside, is that a crack in the spoke flange in the picture ?

Thank you Lorenzo, I spoke to Dave Renham a couple of years ago about spacers and he wasn't supplying them back then.  Good to know I can get them now.  I may have it sorted by the time there is another trial!  Thanks again for taking toe trouble to reply.

  9. I bought my late friend's 198A and want to finish the restoration.  He left instruction that the front wheel spacer was the wrong one.  Can anyone tell me the correct dimensions for this spacer or better still, where I can get one?  I have an ocean of new and used parts that came with the bike but not that particular spacer!  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thankyou I have struggled with mental health and this is my of starting again and starting to enjoy my life again don’t think I will ever be better than hopeless but doesn’t matter??

Hopeless doesn't matter and it is not 'the taking part', it is about enjoying yourself and having fun.  When I started out I could barely beat little kids on Beta mini trails on the beginners route.  Two years or so later those little kids were riding the novice route while I was still back at the beginners route!  It doesn't matter, you will never be Toni Bou but you will have your own measurement of success to please you.  My best friend and riding partner was an amputee having lost his right leg from above the knee.  We were both hopeless but in equal measure for different reasons!  Four years running we took a week out and traveled to Spain to take part in a 2 day twinshock trial, we never finished and only ever completed half of the trial in 4 years!  It didn't matter, the event itself was a fabulous thing to be a part of.  It should be all about having fun on a Sunday rather than just watching!

    Hi all,

I have a silver engine RL250 thats using a 72 mm Wiesco piston and now needs a new little end bearing.

I became all the Wiesco numbers for Piston Rings piston pin and clips from the last owner but not for the small end baering.

Wiesco don´t seem to have any idea what bearing is needed so I thought I´d give it a try here ?

Small end bearing should be 18x23x24 but best place to check is with Crooks Suzuki in Barrow in Furness.

Glad these were of use. They came from an old Beamish manual that I kept from when I used to own one myself many moons ago - in days when manuals were provided with new bikes. If you need any more info there are full parts descriptions and assembly drawings for the whole bike. I want to keep the manual, as I may buy a bike myself to refurb at some point - however I can easily scan and email information if you are struggling to find what you need. Maybe I should check out the owners club and see if this information is of interest to them.

    Hi TRS Fan,

The pages you so very kindly scanned for Phil are from the Black Engine Beamish manual which is already online with the Beamish Owners Club http://www.beamishownersclub.com/pdf/BEWMall.pdf

Hi all, quick question, where do you get replacement fork wipers from? the ones I have pull out of the leg on rebound. :(

    Many thanks.

    Hi Phil,

Fork wipes for the Suzuki are no longer available but you can use an alternative if you can track one down.  Fork wipes are 35mm x 48mm Honda GB500. CB500 or CB750 part # 91254-434-003.

    Hope that helps.

  14. I didn't take up trials until I was 48 and I am severely sight impaired!  I had so much fun as I hadn't been on a bike for almost 30 years and missed it so much.  Most people are really friendly, I did both modern and classic trials and progressed from utterly hopeless to just hopeless in a mere 15 years!  Never be embarrassed, just enjoy yourself and keep smiling.  One tip - never practice alone, I have seen exceptional riders have a silly freak accident and be stretchered away.  Good luck to you and try to stay 2m apart!
