I read that for more than 30 years and it never worked for me. Easiest thing here is to use the buzzer from your multimeter. Doesn’t require your attention and doesn’t stick to anything. The moment it stops buzzing, the contact has opened. As easy as that

Lorenzo, thanks a lot, this helps with making a speedo replacement! Washer has found to it's correct place already and I just found a sleeve which goes somewhere around the speed drive which obviously fell down and rolled away when I took the wheel off the bike... I assume it will be perfect again when I fit that sleeve AND have everything in the right order 😄

So, much better niw if course, but I am still unsure about the order and especially number if “things” in the course of the rear axle. If someone could check out his rear axle (especially around the speedometer drive) it would still be highly appreciated Raoul

Hi, just replaced the wobbly wheel bearings but the rear wheel of my 199 Sherpa is still not fixed properly when I fasten the wheelnut. Washer behind wheelnut touches the thicker part of the axle after the thread before the rear wheel is fully tightened. Of course had I checked the parts book but I am still unsure if therr is something missing. I have, beginning from the right. Head of axle washer chain adjuster wishbone speedo drive wheel bearing distance wheel bearing drum brake hub thick washer wishbone chain adjuster thin washer (in diameter if thread) Nut Am I missing something? I would assume you might have misinterpreted the “before top dead center” through turning the flywheel in the wrong direction. I made the same mistake because I had worked on a Ducati motor immediately before setting the timing on the Sherpa and Ducatis have a reversed crank turning 🤪

So, she runs! It was the missing earth wire to the green cable. Either it was missing or I took it iff by mistake because I thought it was for the lights. However, thanks a lot, great forum, super quick support ?

It says Levistronic and that’s the manufacturer’s name. It’s supplied by Inmotion for my engine so I suppose it’s right. Thought I am in the Bultaco Forum ?

I totally agree, that’s what puzzles me. As I had bought it spark-less I cannot be sure if everything is put together correctly. But at least to my recently acquired knowledge it seems so. I replaced the coil as the ht lead was totally knackered (and I wanted a quick solution...) Points received a cleaning before I put them in Killswitch was disconnected (that’s the “flying” lead on the pic of the coil The new red cable is the elongated black wire from the magneto I planned to extract the lighting hence the absence of some of these cables!

there is no visual short and both coils under the magneto give just very low readings on the voltmeter

Ciao, Right, this wasn’t very detailed: I bought it with no spark and as I am usuya very good mechanic I was convinced it would quickly return to operation... replaced the HT coil points are set to 3mm before top dead center 0.40 mm gap I am measuring at the cable terminal below the steering head

Hi all, I cannot squeeze any spark out of my newly purchased Mod 199 350 Coil, condenser and points are new and set correctly At first I suspected a short to ground but after two days if thinking and tinkering it seems my flywheel isn’t sufficiently magnetic any more. Even when turning the crank with the electric drill I only get 3 V AC out of the magneto Any ideas what else could be wrong and how to overcome or test that further? Raoul

Hi, while inspecting my newly acquired Sherpa 350 mod 199 I noticed a wobbly front wheel. After taking apart and comparing with the parts book I noticed that I am missing a spacer. Does anybody probably have the needed width of that spacer so that I can make one? Arrow marked item on pic! Raoul
