  1. But I’m definitely going to take the gears out and do a very close inspection, thanks again
  2. The top hat is all in good order gears all seem clean tight and smooth but what I’m thinking is I’m going to rotate my shift shaft 180 degrees , I bought the bike knowing that it had issues so I don’t know the history and I’ve never found anything in the the cases, thanks
  3. Thanks for the help I have some pictures, I’ve replaced the shifter drum because it was broken and I replaced the primary shift fork because the dowl was missing the pictures were taken in neutral position the best of my knowledge
  4. The cases are together with no clutch. I replaced the shifter drum, same part numbers, compared to the old one they are the same, when I up shift I can get to 3rd gear then it seems to have no feel in the shifter, I’m wondering if I could get the secondary shaft is misaligned, I put it together with the transmission in neutral
  5. Is there any way to bench test the transmission to make sure it cycles through all the gears, I have my lower gears but it doesn’t seem like I have my higher gears, I have heard they are difficult to bench test is this true or should you be able to get some gears on the bench, I’m not sure if there is anything that could be out of whack, everything went together nice, ?
  6. Just a quick question before I put my engine back together, I’m asking just to double check because I have a feeling that someone else has split the case before me, anyways I’m just wanting make sure the crank seals are in the proper way, is the proper way to have the spring inside the seal towards the crankshaft, there’s three seals all are internal with one on the clutch side and two on the mag side please correct me if I’m wrong thanks
  7. I also started looking at the shift forks and it turns out that I’m missing a dowl pin that goes into the drum
  8. Sounds good thanks I’ll look him up
  9. And I also have to ask.. what’s this red part??? And advice is greatly appreciated, thanks
  10. I finally got time to split the case and I found that my shifter just was the issue
  11. Thanks for all the info, the clutch came off with slight and even amount of pressure on two sides, the bolt and the threads that hold the clutch on looked good but it just seems like there’s and issue there, it didn’t want to do up tight for me when I put it back together. Am I missing something here? I’m more of a husky 300 rider this is my first trials bike and it’s awesome, anyways, the top hat and shear pin and spring look good I removed them and inspected closely then I removed the material on the casing just as in Jim Snells video, I just took it for a ride, it seems better but it drops out of gear and it jumps back in just as fast it also seems to down shift on its own, I’m wondering if maybe I just need to take some more material of the case or adjust the shifter, I just want to make sure I have all the outside simply stuff covered first before I go and buy parts and split the engine thanks
  12. I just bought a 2003 gas gas 2003 280 pro I knew it had shifting problems, it drops into neutral when I’m riding then it’s difficult to get back into gear I usually have to shut the bike off roll it around and it usually finds a gear, I’m in the process of checking the adjuster behind the clutch, the clutch removal isn’t going as planned the 4mm bolt in the centre of the clutch seems to have stripped threads I turned it out with no problems and I can’t get the bolt out the clutch hub moves out about 1/4 inch and that’s it the bolt just spins, and also when I removed the clutch cover a piece fell out that I can’t find where it came from, it just seems to have fell out because it’s not broken from what I can see, any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks
