  1. Have the spacer, no deflector installed, can I skip the deflector? where does it go if I install it?
  2. Was talking about the oil deflector which is missing on mine
  3. Any idea how they work or where they go?
  4. I see the aftermarket pistons dont have the holes drilled in the side, do I look for the correct piston or are the holes no big deal? Also my forks do not have the hat shaped sheet metal cap, is that needed or did mine not come with them?
  5. Another question for the experts...My piston is a MAHL with markings: 85k5-1 and W1, is that the standard size? I think It will clean up with whatever the next size up is.
  6. Hope to find more twin shock enthusiasts here, I know it is big in Europe, hope I can find someone local.
  7. Think thats what I am going to have to do, have not seen anything advertised local, its all for fun anyway, long as they dont tell me I cant ride it
  8. Well I think I screwed up, the rims were beyond what I wanted to use so I broke down the rims to just the hubs so I could get them powder coated and realized I have no way of knowing the off set for when I have the rims put on, is there a spec I can use when rebuilding the wheels? I know the clearance is tight and it needs to be right.
  9. Also thanks for the fork info!
  10. Woody, Was thinking the same thing, still working it, also any idea of how to get the wheel bearing out? Another PITA that is giving me trouble, got the seals off and applied heat but still no luck.
  11. Was told this year should have straight tubes but mine have a taper on the end, are they interchangeable?
  12. So whats the trick to removing the swing arm bolt? What a nightmare!
  13. Another question for the experts...Have read that I will need to line the plastic tank if I get a new one ? Understanding that the fiberglass does not hold up to our reformulated gas with alcohol they sell here in the states. It looks like the tank is plastic now and not fiberglass on the last gen bikes, is it still an issue ? also could I just use race gas instead?
  14. I hope your right, love the Sac area, but a long drive from socal. I anyone knows a club down here that runs that class im all ears.
  15. Lots to digest from you guys! many thanks! Think I may start out with trying the tub route in the old rim for now, but would like to have what looks best and works best for competition after I get some miles on it.
  16. Looking to get back into trials after many years off, rebuilding a Sherpa T to ride and I do not see a lot of vintage competitions available in socal or elsewhere, I know it is big in Europe but does not seem that way here, am I better off just competing at another level instead of bike type?
  17. many thanks for the info, still on the fence about how to go, depending on how bad the old rims are, looking to build a really nice looking bike, but also want to compete in twin shock trials so it needs to be able to mount the best rubber.
  18. Another question...what is the best manual to show me the assembly process and parts breakdown for when I put it all back together?
  19. Restoring a 199B bultaco for twin shock competition and curious if converting to the type of rim that uses the external type spoke as opposed to the through the rim type spoke would be an advantage?
  20. Head and barrel powder coated and exhaust ceramic, want the side cases looking good as well
  21. mine are pretty bad, cracks and other wear. Was the pursang and alpina all the same case? Still looking online, if you guys find some let me know
  22. I know this is an old post, but has anyone ever looked at 3D modeling?
