  1. Tried that but never got a reply in fact he did not open the message! Facebook Messanger is notorius for not flagging up new messages especially first time contact.
  2. I have since come across a pic of a second ISDT Saracen ridden in the 1972 Welsh 2 Day Trial by Steve Wilson who retired after crashing. The reg letters appear to be GJH but actual number not clear, so probably GHJ 59K or 61K . Does anyone have any other pics of that bike?
  3. Is the telephone number for Jon Bliss (01242 239055) still valid as I have tried phoning him several times on that number but no reply and does not go to voice mail. This thread is 19 years old so he may have changed his number in that time.
  4. Not a good idea to remove metal from top of barrel as it will cause piston to hit the head. If you need to increase compression remove it from cylinder head.

    Scimitar Ossa

Some more pics of the other Simitar Ossa SCF49N being ridden by Trevor Kemp (pics courtesy of Trevor) Bike is still on DVLA last tax expired 1/3/81 and last V5c issued 5/1/81 frame number B24150
  6. David Brand of Watford had acquired Saracen by 1972. It was not David's main business I think this was selling plumbling and heating supplies, he was an active clubman rider in the South Midland Centre. The Saracen name finally demised in 1973 see https://cybermotorcycle.com/marques/british/saracen.htm
  7. I had had an ex works 125cc ISDT Saracen GJH60K. It was built for Mick Bowers to ride in the 1972 ISDT in Czechoslovakia. I bought it in 1973 from David Brand and rode it to some success in the Welsh 2 Day trial in 1973 when I won a silver and 1974 a bronze. I sold the bike to Coburn & Hughes of Luton in 1974 in part exchange for a Yamaha DT175. The front down tube had fractured on GJH60K and although repaired I felt its days were numbered for enduro work. The attached pics show me riding it in the 73 & 74 Welsh together with a pic from Don Morleys book Classic 2 Stroke Trials Bikes. It shows David Brand looking on as Mick Bowers works on the bike. The caption with the pic is wrong as it states that David Brand rode it in the 1974 ISDT (I had it by then) when in fact it was the 1972 event and rider was Mick Bowers. Bowers failed to complete the trial.

    Scimitar Ossa

As far as I know Edgar Stearn built two Scimitars with Tiger Cub engines, one for himself KCE43F (which he still has) the second one for his friend Dave Simons PCE781J. Edgar also built two Ossa engined Simitars one for himself VER651L and another for Trevor Kemp (reg unknown). Their was also a BSA C15 engined Simitar (reg unknown) built for Malcolm Ellis.
