  1. Thanks for your reply Scott, the TY is road registered (currently SORN'd). I never thought it would be suitable for green laning. Its fitted with a (Shirt/Andrews?) silencer, which is quite loud - too loud for green laning?? - don't want to upset people. How far will a TY go on a tank of fuel?
  2. I have an '89 TY 250 mono. I bought this bike with the intention of starting trials. I stripped it down, resprayed, replaced all shock linkage bushes, fork springs, new rear wheel, C&S, put on replacement one-peice tank/seat unit, and numerous other bits (receipts for all), and used it TWICE! Its a really nice bike, but I can't help thinking I'm better suited to pottering about green-laning. Would'nt mind a Scorpa Long-Ride (any good for green-laning?) So whats my TY worth? Thanks for any suggestions.
  3. Hi. I'm thinking of buying a second-hand road-registered trials bike, and am getting conflicting advice as to what one need to be road registered. My understanding is that for a daytime MOT, it needs a speedo, horn, and brake light. I guess for a full MOT it needs front & rear lights. Anybody got the definate answer? Thanks, Nokesy.
  4. May I say 'thanks' to Crosser for his reply. Nice to know someone at the sharp-end is taking notice of the punters comments, and passing them on. I have mentioned this elsewhere, but what does p##s me off is the chucking of paper planes towards the sections. I saw parents encouraging their kids to do this as riders were tackling the sections!! Irresponsible or what? Surely the slightest distraction to a rider at a critical point on a section could prove disasterous, and God forbid, end in a serious injury. I suggest selling the programmes instead, instead of giving these dead-heads and their kids ammo!
  5. Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but one thing that did slightly p**s me off on the night (and every year, come to think of it), is the chucking of paper planes. I even saw these being thrown towards the riders as they were tackling the sections!! Am I alone in thinking this is bloody dangerous? If a rider is distracted at a critical point, it could be serious. Some parents behind me were actively encouraging their kids to rip up the programmes to do this! Sell the programmes to stop these dead heads and their kids!
  6. If you've go the chance to go the round in Belfast, GO. Most of the criticisms mentioned are in no way a reflection of the rider's awesome skills on display, no way, they are better every time I see them. Last year I got a seat on the front row (thinking I was being bloody clever), only to be stuck behind a large section! I could'nt see more than a third of all the sections! Try to get 10-15 rows back, so you can see over the top of the sections, and hopefully you'll see them all. Better still, try to view a seating plan of the venue before buying you'r tickets. Go, you won't be dissapointed!
  7. Was it me, or was Sheffield really lacking this year? I agree with the comments regarding the

Should have seen that one coming!!
  10. Can anyone help? I've just finished rebuilding my '89 TY250R mono, but need a sidestand (I've got the bracket and spring, just need the 'leg'). O/E part is ridiculous money. Does anyone know of a cheaper solution? Thanks for any suggestions.
  11. I don't use my bike ('89 TY 250R) as often as I'd like to, and it may not be used for up to 2 months at a time. Is it ok to leave the fuel in the tank for this long? Does 2 stroke mix 'go off', so to speak? and I've usually got 1/2 gallon of 2 stroke mix in a fuel can stored. Is this ok? Thanks for any advice.
