  1. Feetupfun, thank for the clarification, it shed some light on my confusion. I do have the WES exhaust, and a few other items installed already. I have the forks setup using the InMotion aluminum damper rods and Trials France magical springs. I have an original fuel tank that is in fantastic condition, I am nervous about smashing it up, which sent me down the path of looking for a different fuel tank and possibly a weight saving in the process. The Shedworks tank and seat assembly looks fantastic, but it gets quite pricey to ship to the US. Interestingly, according to the internet the A version was lighter than the later TYs. Possibly a Majestic tank, long fender, and a late model seat with fiberglass pan could be a good option. Something like the attached pics. BJ Racing has a tank seat combination that looks much like the Shedworks, but I think it is all fiberglass and does not have the inner aluminum tank. http://bjracing.com/id121.html hard to tell.
  2. I really like the looks of the Shedworks Tank/Seat combination; however, I can't figure out if it is compatible with the 1974 TY250? I struggle to understand what is compatible with the rear fender that uses the fiberglass seat pan. In all the pictures I see it seems the models are later versions, with a different rear mudguard and I can't find this other mudguard for sale (I have the short mudguard where the air box is part of the rear mudguard). Is a different rear fender needed for this to work? Is the stock air box compatible with the Shedworks setup? I also see majesty style aluminum tanks that look good, they seem to use a different rear fender as well. I am trying to cut weight, have a more "sleek/narrow" look and feel to the bike. Thoughts? Which would be considered better, or is there another option to clean up the bike? Thank you Glenn
  3. The early type with the drain screw on the sides. Prior owner pounded in fork seals that were too large, I damaged the top lip removing one of the seals that was nearly welded in place. Shock still performs, but figured if it a dirt bike one fit it would be an easy winter job. I hadn't realized the TY250 forks were unique. Thank you.
  4. What other Yamaha dirt bike fork tubes (not stanchions) are identical to the TY250A? I was thinking 74'/75' DT250 might be the same? I would like to replace one of my fork tubes and it might be easier to source other Yamaha dirt bike tubes. Glenn
  5. Hahaha, agree, he did talk my ear off, which was OK. He got mad at me when I told him I just wanted to get a rough idea when to expect my skid plate so I could ride without worrying about engine case.
  6. Use caution when ordering from B&J Racing, he will not follow through on your order. Been waiting for months for a TYY250 skid plate, he never did anything to deliver the order. Just needed the spacers welded on. Every time I called there was another reason why he couldn't do it, from storms outside to just plane saying he didn't want to do it and maybe he would just retire instead. He is happy to take your credit card number though. At this point he should just close down the website and let people know he simply does not wait to be in business anymore, and not mislead people into relying on him for parts.
  7. Just took it for a ride with the 32mm preload, plenty stiff enough, feels great.
  8. Thank you feeupfun, forks are still off the bike, I'll set the oil as described.
  9. I rebuilt my forks with the magical dampening rods, magical springs, and adjustable pre-load bolts. I added 167cc of 10 wt. fork oil. I set the adjuster at minimum 20mm, and the fork caps add approximately another 28mm of preload (around 48mm total). I weight 225 with gear on, this is the reason I felt a little more pre-load maybe ok. When cycling the fork with no spring and fork cap off there is a sucking sound of the oil, sounds like it is getting some air. Is this common? The dip length maybe different with the magical dampening rods as the length is different than the stock rod. Suggestions for fork oil amount? General suggestions? Thank You Glenn
  10. The skid plate for my 74 TY250A is missing. B&J Racing has aftermarket plates, but the owner got hurt and is unable to ship. Are there other options for a skid plate, possibly from a different bike that will fit, or aftermarket that will fit with a little modification? Thank You Glenn
  11. I looked all over, tytrials didn't have ty250 twin shock springs. I ended up ordering them on the France Trials Classic site, got the Magicals. I hope it improves my riding magically. Thank you for the help. Glenn.
  12. feetupfun thank you for the details. I just placed an order with InMotion, they don't carry the Magicals anymore or any TY springs according to their web page. The dual rate with increased rate sound perfect. Now to find them.
  13. I recently purchased a 74' TY250 which the prior owner rebuilt the forks. The forks feel very soft and offer a very flat rebound feeling. I decided to rebuild them again since the stanchions are rusty. I ordered new replacement stanchions and new aluminum damper rods "including all the factory works modifications" 🙂 for what that's worth. I also ordered a set of OZO Pro Trials rear shocks (340mm and set up for a 230 pound rider). I am looking for a set of replacement fork springs and possible rebound springs (if necessary) that will work with the above setup and my weight and I am having trouble locating them. BJR doesn't have any stock on fork springs at this time. Can someone lead me in the right direction of where to purchase, or if another spring would work? What is the stock spring rate? I feel I may need a little stiffer spring for my weight.
