Dragonfly is 21Kg lighter and I can tell you that TRS electric start is high maintenance, it would work better if you kickstart her TRS bike when it is cold for her if you go that way, the electric works best on a warm engine.

Reach implies arm position so height and position of your bars is where you would adjust for reach, a set of taller bars aka 'indoor bars' is a good investment and will fit both bikes, had them on one of 2 rides and it makes a surprising difference in leverage and riding position.

So you are scratching up your fresh new spray coat of ultra hard nickel and silicon carbide that is actually harder then your piston rings for what purpose 🤔
-
When a piston ring pack becomes gummed up from bad fuel the rings stick in the piston grooves, then everything starts to go badly. Once you experience it you will know why I call it a jam sandwich.
-
-
In theory; your piston wobbled because of either tightness in the wrist pin bearing or a jam sandwich in the piston rings.
-
Just push your bike home, bump start it, or call a tow vehicle 🤣 says the 200 pounder who only rides flatlands and quad trails.
-
You sure you want to hone a plated barrel 🤔 don't think you are suppose to do that.
-
If you plan to ride in cold climates the first thing you will want to add is a jump start port so you can carry some extra battery power, e-start on my TRS bikes is very seasonal. If it has a sprag bearing in the starter you might even want to pack a spare motorcycle.

Oil won't hurt the throttle body. The fuel injector is after the throttle body and that is where fuel residue would start to be apparent, if anywhere. Race fuel is a very aggressive solvent if you have been running poor quality fuels and will be going through the injectors. Crankcase ventilation is critical to preventing oil going places it should not, like past the intake valve seals for example. Spray solvent can dissolve the blue silicon insulation inside the main electrical connector, use only air if it gets water condensation in it.
If any flame gets past the 4-stroke valves the filter could ignite unlike the 2-stroke 315 model, hence the addition of a flame screen is required.

I think you can get a clear float bowl for that carb, makes it easier to diagnose 🤓

It's a radial rear and it's stamped for 'trials competition use only' right on the sidewall, I'm guessing it's a trials tire worth a try. It's not like a rear tire lasts any longer than one season anyway. + If they are any good you can bet the price will increase.

The cap is on there to make the fuel pump work better. The cap is small compared to the one on a Montesa, personally I think I would double up on the cap, that would be cheap and easy, might even give immediate results if the cap on it is lacking.
-
From what I've seen there is a lack of consistency in design and execution in their production bikes, so you are best to reverse engineer what you have purchased. Wiring diagrams that I have seen are sketchy and incomplete. One of my riding partners owns two of them now, he bought the second bike in the hope it would be a better starter and is still struggling with starting and lean fuel operation issues. Some have a battery and some have a cap but to be honest I expect it needs both. Capacitors charge relatively fast off the kick starter compared to a battery that stores a lot more electricity, but the solid state battery really lacks power in cold temps and your alternator needs to be operating at peak efficiency to generate sufficient power to both run the engine and charge the battery / cap to charge operating capacity so personally I would start right at inspecting the alternator and scope test everything on the wiring harness down stream of that. A boost or charge port for the battery is the best way to troubleshoot the battery and is a good add to any Fi or electric start bike imo.
-
I'd be checking the fuel pressure and if your bike is fitted with a capacitor in addition to the battery, she won't start without fuel pressure and it can not achieve fuel pressure unless the electrics are fully functional to support it. Checking the battery voltage at the fuel pump and not at the battery terminals is a good start because you may have voltage drop from bad connections before it reaches the pump or with poor grounding. Hope this helps some 👍

Seen the top riders motorcycle get stolen at a 2-day national, had two nefarious individuals attend one of my events purely for the purpose of delaying and disrupting the event, now I have security at events to stop that nonsense.
-
Under 50 riders and ease of access lol Canadian trials events rarely reach that number of riders, hard enduro no problem attracting 100 riders and 70% of those riders can't complete an event. Long distance travel is also a reality in Canada that most people living on an island can not relate to, nothing is easy access here other than wildlife. Yep living in the past you are, back in the days when you didn't even need security at an event, those days are done.
-
I prefer to host 2-day nationals if I go to the bother of doing a sanctioned event under CMA/FIM, nationals see better participation and support, yes to likely much different level to anything you ride, I own a 400 acre world class trials venue and have hosted events for 30 years 🤣 casual riders consider it too rough to ride a lot of it. If you don't want to pre-enter my events out of principal, believe I would prefer you stay home anyway, it would be much easier for everybody.

Don't know how to break this to you but not for profit clubs and the events are built by riders, regular ordinary people that do it for fun and not for profitable employment. It starts when you or you and maybe one or two friends decide you want to have a club and the first thing that person or group of people needs to do is fork out a healthy amount of personal money to establish a club and event sanction. Subsequently that person hopes that a sufficient number of participants show up and pay enough coin to re-cover the costs already incurred at the events that person or club builds. In defence of your opinion, only a rider that has organized a club and regularly hosted sanctioned events would know that somebody such as myself has already dropped coin to make the event happen. You are only willing to support the club and the event costs if it suits you 👎
Next issue is security and facilities where pre-registration makes it possible to predict how many portable toilets, parking spaces, campsites and additional support people the organizers require to make the event work for you all. You can't plan and build a successful event if you can't even know people will show.
-
Search for somebody local to you that services alternators and starter motors, there should be loads of shops that can do it.
-
My Montesa came with an addendum to the owners manual detailing how to prep the bike for competition, it was in the crate right from the manufacturer, so I would ask your dealer if they scooped it or if they can provide that information.
... as for is it OK to remove the fuel tank vapour pollution control measures, that is likely a personal choice, the engine won't notice any difference. I owned another 4RT that was stripped of parts almost beyond reason by a previous owner and it worked just fine.
-
If it's anything like the rest of the world, pre-entry started because of covid rules and will likely remain because pre-entry is of huge benefit to the people that organize and host observed trials competitions. The only people that resist pre-registration are the ones that don't take entry to the event seriously and don't care if the event is successful or not, it's all about not wanting to forfeit the pre-entry fee.

Do Not wear loose baggy clothing and boot laces that can catch in the moving parts. Proper trials riding boots are every bit as important as a helmet considering your first crash will likely be at crawling speed. The boots also work great for rough terrain hiking and chainsaw work if you don't end up using them for riding.
-
Find some old guy that has a great place to ride owns 2 trials bikes and does nothing much else but ride and wrench trials bikes 👍
How do you feel about crashes because that is likely to happen, if you are in the habit of participating in rough sports you will likely have no problem. Riding a trials bike on trials terrain is a full body workout if you are doing it right, that will surprise you.
