  1. Hi Trav,

We have three trials events left this season, Gravenhurst September 24, Raymond (close by) September 25 and St George on October 16. There are also a number of CVMG trials that are great for a new-to-trials rider. You can see all the flyers and schedule at www.trialsontario.ca. Some bikes for sale listed on www.trialsontario.ca and www.trialscanada.com.

Hope to see you out soon!

  2. Hi guys,

Just a note that the 2011 season kicking off at Dave's place at Sparrow lake. Saturday April 23. Note this is Saturday, so you can still be back in time for the Easter bunny...

    flyer here: http://www.canmocycle.ca/flyers/sparrowlake.pdf

Dave had hoped to lay out sections at a new spot near Huntsville but weather hasn't cooperated for him to be able to get in and cut trails and sections. The Huntsville spot is planned for the fall.

  4. Floats can become sinks on the Bing model 84. You can check it by just putting the float in a container of gas. It should not sink to the bottom. I bought a float from Bing USA for Spanish Bing #12301/1. I think the newer floats are black. The part number was 350300 $15.78. http://www.bingcarburetor.com/

On another note, I also bought a slide that did not have the same cut-away as the original. Bike ran very rich through the mid range and ended up changing back to the original worn slide.

  5. A bit of Fonthill trials history

First trial that I rode on my Yamaha 100 trail bike June 15, 1975.

    Total of 112 riders!

    15 sections!

6 laps! (not all riders in all sections)

At least 14 riders from New York and Pennsylvania.

Bike brands in attendance Bultaco Yamaha Kawasaki Cotton Suzuki Montesa Honda Wassell Ossa Hodaka DKW Zundapp.

Last Fonthill Trial that I have a results sheet on May 16, 1982.

Total of 65 riders including at least 14 that are regularly competing today.

    See you there!

  6. looks good, Fox Shox should be mounted with the chamber at the top as they were on your bike originally. I have these on my 199A as well. Also if you rotate the kick start lever forward on the spline a notch or two, you will get a bit more engine rotation before the kicker hits the footpeg.

Where did you get the new fenders and the tank decals?

    Bob

  7. Saw them a few times in the women's cross country mountain bike race, an '03 (yellow) and a red fender model. Also thought I saw a Montesa. Near the end of the race, two trials bikes were real close to a couple of XC riders, a trials bike bonked off a rock and sped up. CBC anouncers mentioned something about those 'motocrossers' Could hear the Beta exhaust note through most of the race too.

  8. 8" length of 20mm diameter ground shafting, used to knock out the wheel bearings with the aluminum spacer.

2" length of 2-1/2" tubing to support wheel when knocking out those bearings

42mm diameter tubing to install bearings

2' length of 1-1/2" ABS pipe fork seal driver

Angle grinder with cut-off wheel to open up trailer (after keys locked inside)

Bultaco clutch holding tool made from vice grip clamp

Bultaco flywheel puller bodged up from pipe union and nut

Bultaco transmission fill pipe made from copper pipe

Mr Clean Magic Eraser...does amazing job cleaning up unpainted Montesa fender...(note to self: use magic eraser on scorecard next trial)

  9. Bob,

    Thanks for the link.

Did they say when they would have the bikes for sale and how much they would be?

Looks like finding a bike in a shop will require a great deal of travel.

They said end of June, also they would be selling the complete bike, not just frameset as shown on the website.

Specs and price now on the website, $1598 Cdn.

    26" VTT Trials

  10. We met these guys at a trials demo we did a few weeks ago, they are just finishing the testing on a new bike they will be selling. Check out the Orillia demo...Meta Bike Impressive when he jumped off the flat bed, onto the top of the outrigger post then to the car hood, then the ground...not much margin for error landing on that 4"x4" post!
