thanks hadnt thought about Ultasonic cleaning but have seen it advertised and would do the trick so will explore that option. Also just fishing a bit for successful jetting options. Am aware of airbox options and we had someone here in NZ making louvered tops for these and also the early TY250 mono's so will track one down. The carb i borrowed had the bottom of the slide machined down aprrox 3-4 mm to get the needle further down into the jet which seemed to work quite well in leaning the mix down at throttle off settings.

Hi all just looking for info if possible. Have started back on resurrecting a 87 TLM 200 which is nearly brand new 370 original KMs on speedo after inporting from Japan last year. Will not run properly and appears to four stroke ie too rich. Carb has been left with fuel in by the look of it on several occasions and suspect internal galleries are blocked. Have set up back to standard per Honda parts list at 90 main and 40 pilot middle clip on the needle. Borrowed carb of earlier model from friend and it has 98 main 45 pilot on 2nd clip from top and bike runs nicely but a touch rich. Am now on the hunt for PE carb of same type as new PE models will not fit due to bottom drain. Not much available here in NZ any options in U/K for classic spares ?. The local classic movement here has just allowed air cooled mono's this season so keen to get going. Who is best Keihin stockist as most sites that seem to pop up are U.S and only have current Keihin options - might still have to go down this track.

A BIT LATE NOW,NEVER EVER ADJUST FLOAT SETTING,IN MANY YEARS IN THE TRADE I HAVER NEVER DONE IT.I THINK THATS NOT YOUR PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE CARB NOT CLEAN ENOUGH.HAVE YOU TRIED HOLDING UP CARB WHILE FILLING THROUGH PIPE AND TRYING FLOAT UP AND DOWN WITHOUT BOWL ON,TO SEE IF FUEL COMES THROUGH ,NOW ADJUST BY EYE.HOPE THIS ALL MAKES SENCE Hadnt tried that perhaps should not have adjusted in first place as seemed to be be way to high so will have another play and get it back to where it was. Cheers was hoping someone might have service manual with correct float setting to start with. Cheers

Shame as these were a good wee machine and now worth a serious dollar for a good one. I see no one picked up on the oil around base of barrel My choice would be for a leaking barrel gasket or crankshaft seal allowing air to be sucked in when the throttle is opened. Judging by the age of the machine if the crankshaft seals havent been done by now then this or the barrel gasket would be the best if not easiest choice.

ON the way to getting my 87 TLM 200 going but carb is a bit of a mess after sitting for a few years and adjusted floats to what I thought was a standard Kehin setting of 17 - 18mm--- result no fuel in carb. So B4 i pull it out again as it is a bit of a sod to get out can anyone give me the correct float height setting for one of these. Cheers Roy

Have just purchased 'new' TLM 200 ex Japan from a local bike importer to NZ. This 1987 TLM has been purchased and run in on the road 334 kms then put in the corner of someones garage in Japan and left. We are going to bring it from its pristine condition back to life for the wife to ride but have memories that these were rather restricted in the breathing does anyone know of recomended mods to the inlet and exhaust tract to improve the TLM's performance. Cheers Roy
