Somethings wrong there Sparks2, I have the copy of the MCN for Wednesday December 1st 1965 and he rode in the Severn Valley Trial after the Experts that year, you can't have an MCN dated Dec 2nd 1965 as well, Do you mean 1964 ?

Twinshock again
When I was riding through the sixties in the Midland centre I kept a scrap book with results from the MCN that I competed in (Good results that is)
I have finally found that book after numerous house moves and it tells me that Woody might have his dates wrong.
The year that Sam rode the Bultaco in a Midland centre trial (the Severn Valley Trial) after competing in the British Experts the previous day was in fact Sunday Nov 28th 1965, not 1964.The cutting of the Motorcycle News has the date printed on the part I cut out !!
I have numerous results lists that show when Midland centre riders were competing on British BSA's, Cubs Villiers, FB's James etc etc during 1964 and then suddenly the likes of Brian Barnsley, Bill Price, MW Taylor, Dick Hearne, John Grazier and a whole heap of others in 1965 started turning out on the Bultaco's.
I would love to see a comment from the Man himself or from someone who worked for the importers who could finally tell the facts on this discussion topic.
I'm feeding your comments back into the Aussie website as there are a lot of people interested over here.
Cheers

G'Day
We have an ongoing discussion going on in Australia regarding the fact that a Bultaco Sherpa M10 won our national championship Classic (Pre 65) class last year and with the championships coming up again soon we need to know the facts about this model of Bultaco.
Can anyone tell us without any shadow of doubt that the M10 was available to the retail market prior to Jan 1st 1965. My memory isn't clear enough to recall when Sam first appeared on his Sherpa but somewhere there must be facts and figures to either support or dispute the legitemacy of the model over here.
I need to be refered to manufacturers records or something definite that proves when mass production of the M10 started.
Can anyone help please

Thanks Vinnied
Yes Martyn is over here living in Adelaide and he called me yesterday, Told me that the Concentric is not the best carby for the Cub but i'm trying to get it back to within the regulations over here and I need a Mk 1 fitted. Anyway Martyn gave me some details and all I have to do now is buy a carb at a decent price.

Hey Dave P
If you are in Brisbane maybe we should get our heads together, I'm in Brisbane as well and I own four Fantics, 1 x200, 1x 240 and 2x 305's.
I've never seen a 307 around here, just a few 240's
I've got various parts and owners manuals that you can copy.
If you want to call me my number is 07 3203 8555 or mobile 0418 354023, I live at Scarborough

Hey Wrinkley
A man after my own heart, just had a new hip myself, also restoring a Fantic 200, 240 and a 305 and also glossed a plastic tank on the 200 although it hasn't started blistering yet. Used to ride in the Midland center during the 60's - late 70's before migrating to Aussie in 1980. Which center did you ride in.?? Usually get back to Uk every year and look up a few old mates.
Let us know how you get on with the plastic tank

Hi Pat
Fantastic to hear from you. Very sorry to hear about Mike, I'll bet you miss him badly. I lost my brother Mike back in 1988 when he was 46 to a heart attack so I know how you feel.
Also lost dad many years ago 1978 but mom is still alive living in Castle Bromwich, she's 92 now, drives, smokes and drinks how about your parents ?
When I first arrived in Australia I got up the the top A grade in trials but over the years slowed down till I have been riding a Tiger Cub in Classic class along with Chris Leighfield but he always beat me in the Aussie titles, we got 1st and 2nd one year. My left hip told me that I couldn't keep going so I had a resurfacing op 6 weeks ago and its really good now.
I bought a Beta and enjoyed myself on that for a while but still had the twinshock bug and John Richardson got me into the Fantics, I now have a 200, 240 and a nice 305
What do you think about my Fantic fetish.
Can you contact me on rogerg@cooldrive.com.au
Look forward to hearing from you again
Regards
Rog

Thanks, I didn't know there was a Fantic forum, how do I get into it ?

Hi
I'm an ex Midland Centre rider from the 60's and 70's disappearing to Australia in 1980.
Still riding in trials although I've slowed down a bit after a hip replacement a few weeks ago.
I heard a name mentioned the other day on this website (I think) and would love to hear from him and a few others who were around in those days. As the Galpin brothers, Mike and Roger we used to ride BSA's with the Slinn brothers and the Winwood brothers and it was Pat Slinn who was mentined. My dad, Eric, used to know Reg Slinn and whatever happened to Alan Wright, Scott Ellis, Mick Bowers, Dick Hearn, Pat Brittain and a host of other top Midland centre riders. Chris Leighfield is over here in Aus and we keep in touch and I bumped into Bob Haines, Bill Price John Richardson and a few others when I was in the UK last year.
What happened to the Sutton Town Motor Cycle Club and do they still run the Midland Centre group trial series.
So many questions but probably few answers.
Oh well it would be nice to hear from anyone who remembers some of those names.
I have become a Fantic fanatic over the last few years and now own a 200, 240 and a 305 so I would love to talk Fantics with any other enthusiasts.
C Ya
