Seems the word "unbiased" was a poor choice of words on my behalf!!!!
Seeing it was a great owner/rider report on how Paul has found the bike since getting it, I thought everyone might be interested in it considering the scarcity of the bikes overseas.
My apologises to Paul and everyone for the agro it has caused!!!!
Honest Opinion - don't waste any more money rebuilding the stock Sherco shock or buying anything else but the TRP shock from Jitsie. Total quality plus ample adjustments. Best bit is that the springs are sold matched to your weight. Doesn't look like there's a dealer is South africa but I'm sure someone on the net will ship you one.
Would seriously recommend the Jitsie or Apico range of handlebars. The come in a variety of sizes 4.5", 5.0" and 5.5" plus a choice a colours. I sell these handlebars here in Australia and the riders love them, well priced plus very hard to bend or break them. Not sure where to get them in the '"ole dart" but I am sure someone should be able to point you the right direction.
I know that one of our Expert riders here in Queensland experimented with a Keihin with a flat slide on a 04 270 Rev3 and they had commented it was a marked improvement in performance. Don't quite know all the story but can find out or get the Mike to post his comments if anyones interested.
Apparently, it is a bitch to get at the air /fuel miixture screw on the Keihen when fitted to the Betas. Probably why no ones mucked around with it
From past experience, once the float is setup - no more leaks.
Click on the link to find out all you will need to find out about your 98 Techno (great Bike). This site is great as it has all the info just one problem it's in Norwegian. I think from memory it is 360ml or 70mm from top of suspension fork.
Just emailed the parts breakdown for the Rev80 and 50 to you. The seal appears to be 10x18x4mm part no 23. The 250 cc breakdown shows a 10x18x4mm. I will check my stocks tomorrow and give you a call.
It's a shame the Beta Website doesn't have this info downloadable from their site.
I get countless requests from secondhand Beta owners for a copy of the respective owners manuals every year but can't help which frustrates the hell out of me . I've tried to get this added to either our Australian Importer website or the factories site but no luck to date.
If only Beta would take a leaf out of the Sherco marketing ie downloadable Pdf manuals and parts break downs.
The Trials website here in Australia has a posting mentioning that Albert Cabestany has left Beta to ride for Sherco. Apparently he will be riding the two stroke whilst Graham Jarvis will be riding the four stroker. Has anyone else heard if this true??
Thanks for the comments. According to our importer, we won't see any till end of January. So you lucky buggers get to tease us for a while yet.
I was asking as I was in deep thought as to whether to become an agent for the Montesa dealer here in Australia. You certainly have laid my mind to rest and helped in making the decision.
Just found this forum for the educated Trials rider and for those who are smart enough to be on a Beta.
Just a quick email to let you guys know that I have all the spare parts breakdowns on my website downloadable as a PDF file. I haven't got the 2004 on there yet as I have a problem up loading to the site. Hopefully the IT geek will fix some time soon - it has only been 3-4 months!!!!!!
Hope this helps my fellow Beta riders through out the Trials world.
address is : www.kdmototrials.com.au
Select spare parts then choose your model, right click and "save target as" to your hard drive.
