  1. OK, thanks for the reassurance, and advice! Steve
  2. .....seems to be on a lot more than on the Sherco, and on almost continually after running fro 10 mins or so use. Is this normal for the 300? Coolant level is fine, but will give the rad a good hosing to ensure its clean. But..... whats the best way to do this without knackering the fan bearings with water? Thanks...... Steve
  3. I would like a workshop manual, ie for taking stuff apart rather than a high level maintenance type, is there anywhere to download? Seems to be a common question so could a sticky be added for newbies? Thanks Steve
  4. Hi all Just got me a 2004 300 Raga and its the dogs! I'm new to this trials lark and have spent a short time riding a 2yr older Sherco 250 but fancied something newer and with a bit more punch. Took a bit of getting used to after the super friendly Sherco engine, but after my Honda XR-650 even this Gasser is quite tame. Obviously trials is a very different environment to enduro but had a good play on the bike over the weekend and the power delivery really seems spot on to me. It will chug up anything at low revs in a very controllable manner. The Gas Gas finish is however appalling..... The magnesium cases and swing arm look pretty rough, but hey the bike is made to be ridden not polished. Got a few questions so will post them separately. Steve Hants, UK
  5. Thanks for the helpful suggestions. Checked the reeds and all OK. Not tried the ignition timing yet as don't want to reduce power at all - the motor is just about spot-on really in terms of ease of use vs power. Tried dropping the needle instead, which had no effect but made the bike pink a bit when hot. Also screwed in the pilot screw enough to make it feel very soft and lean off idle but again no improvement to the steady throttle "two-strokey-ness". So.... jumped on a 2007 Sherco 250 ... and ...er. ....it was exactly the same! So I will either live with it or get another make thats a bit smoother like my mate's GasGas 270. TD
  6. Hi all, New owner here down in Hants. Got me a tidy 2002 250 Sherco and it runs very well apart from at low revs. It feels over-rich and not very "crisp", a bit like the choke is half on (it isn't). It always picks up cleanly, its just at steady, low, throttle it doesn't run as smoothly as some other bikes I've ridden and the exhaust note is a pronounced POP POP POP. All jets etc are standard, #33 pilot, D36 needle 3rd notch down. Turning the pilot screw doesn't seem to affect the problem - it appears to be the next jetting circuit up, but before the needle clip can affect things. Is this normal for this bike, anything I can do to crisp it up a bit? Thanks for any advice TD
