  1. had the same problem with the overflow tubes - used the link Dan provided to the Texhoma club's newsletter with EXCELLENT photos on how to make the change. Less than $4 to fix this problem using the proper type tubing and a vacuum T. I'll know for certain on Sunday when I head to the quarry for practice. So far it seems to be the proper fix! Thanks! Greg
  2. Agreed - fantastic shots from the Colorado National!!! Big saves, too!!! Right click on each link to "save target as..." and download the files to your local computer for best results. Wish I could have been there! Thanks - Greg

    2000 Rev 3 270

I downloaded the PDF from the Beta web site in Italy - you'll get several languages but the second language is english. I simply printed off those pages and now have a fairly decent manual to go from. The '01-07s are quite similar. The air box and subframe changed in '02 so your bike and mine share parts with the exception of the forks. Inverted was an option for '01 but most went with the conventional forks. The air filter is NOT the same as the '02-07 so be careful when ordering a couple - it's always best to have an oiled spare ready to go! The PDF includes a great set of schematics for wiring and good photos for servicing most parts. There is also a PDF manual for the engine which is also applicable. Just google for Beta Rev-3 and between the factory site and the US importer site you'll find most of what you need online. The British sites are also superb in helping out, too. Just check the forum over either by searching or reading each post. I have done both and gained some pretty good insight as to what I should expect from the Beta. It's a great bike and a strong competitor, too. Thanks! Greg

    2000 Rev 3 270

I have the 250 version of this bike and love it! Inverted forks are plush and the bike corners tighter than my old Gas Gas 321 did. Power is comparable to the 321 and maintenance is a snap! Excellent support from my local Beta dealer as well as the US importer, too. Lewisport USA has been great, too. For an eight year old bike, my Rev 3 is like new and tons of fun to ride. Unless the bike you're looking at is pretty rough (not common), I'd say go for it! Greg Wichita, KS
  5. Thanks for the feedback! Most of my rides are in dry to moist conditions - rarely do I see that much mud. Are water crossings, stream sections a problem?
  6. After a reasonable search of the forum I know that it is possible to change out the sub frame assembly and airbox of the 2000-01 Rev 3 250\270 for the later 02-07 airbox. Has anyone actually done this and what was the cost? Pictures are always a good thing if you can share those, too. I noticed that there were as many posts supporting the original box as there were advocating a change to the newer box. Filters for the 02-07 are easy to come by but I've not had much luck getting my hands on the right filter since it's such an odd duck. I'll eventually have one after getting the 02-07 filter shipped to me by mistake. It's a shame we can't all use the same filter...I could have been riding this weekend instead of waiting on the delivery truck. The filter for my old Gas Gas 321 is a flat piece of foam! The original D shaped filter foam for the Beta died of old age - the bike sat unused in a garage for years until I bought it 3 weeks ago. It came apart in my hands after gently removing from the bike for servicing. The rest of the bike is pristine!
  7. Allen Who? The quarry is definately a gem of a place to ride! We need to see more Texas riders at the Flint Hills 2 day - heck, we even have cold beer for Saturday night! Muenster was a hoot this year for the El Famosa, too. Maybe I'll see you at the Sooner Cup in a couple weeks!
  8. Hi everyone, I've been riding motorcycles most my life dating back as far as the '73 DT 360 Yamaha. Until about 3 years ago, all I rode was my XR600R for grins and the annual trek to Rampart Range in Colorado's Pike National. I'm converting the XR over to a street legal dual sport but have been rather distracted by my new habit - trials riding! I am a member of the Ark Valley Trials Association and have ridden the Novice class when I could the past 3 years. I bought a '99 Gas Gas TXT 321 from my wife's uncle when he upgraded to a 300 Pro and never looked back. This past weekend, I drove to McKinney, Texas and bought a very low hours (5 rides total) 2000 Beta Rev 3 for $1800. The bike looks new aside from the garage dust. Our next club trials is Sunday but I'm not sure I'll have enough time to practice on the Beta so I may ride the 321 one more time before it goes to its new owner (Sorry, it's already sold!). As I've learned you can never practice enough... Any information about the inverted forks would be greatly appreciated as would a good source for parts, too. What's the recommended oil to fuel mix ratio? I would also appreciate any tips on keeping this beast in top shape - the Gas Gas was sooo easy to maintain! I hope to find that true with the Beta, too. Thanks! Cheers! Greg Wichita, KS
