  1. Thanks guys. When I changed the fork seals there was a load of grease in between the fork oil seal and the dust seal, so this may have been an attempt by the previous owner to stop it. I'll check the alignment.
  2. Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll pull the head/cylinder off and have a look. I was perhaps being a bit over-enthusiastic when I said engine rebuild...!
  3. Hi all My forks seem to have developed a lot of 'stiction'. When the forks start to compress from full extension, it seems to catch a little bit. I've changed the fork oil and seals, and it's had no effect. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I thought it might be the Headstock bearings, but there doesn't seem to be any play in them, and wanted to ask on here before I go ahead and replace them anyway! Thanks in advance, Ben
  4. Hi all, With the advent of the new year, I've decided to treat my bike to an engine rebuild. I've done other bikes before, but never a 315... Is there anything I should watch out for, or is it fairly straightforward? The engine sounds noisy, not rattly as such, but just like it's not running smoothly. Any idea on whether top/bottom end is most likely to have gone? Are the Montesas particularly susceptible to either? It's certainly noticeably more noisy than other Montesas I've listened to. Also, whilst I've got it in bits, is there anything I can do to the internals to improve power?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ben
  5. Hi All, I'm just about to start a restoration of a Fantic 200 (not sure of year), with a rear kick engine. Does anyone know of any good information sources such as a workshop manual (particularly for the engine), wiring diagram, history of the model and tech. specification etc? I'm planning to completely strip and rebuild the engine and gearbox, but if I can't find a manual from somewhere I'm tempted to pay someone to do it who has more of an idea of what they're doing! Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ben
  6. I'm from Sevenoaks, Kent. (UK) Just in the process of trying to source parts for the Fantic rebuild, proving a bit of a challenge!!
  7. Hi all, I'm new to the forum, recently bought myself a 2002 Montesa 315r, to get back into trials after an eight year break. Rode my first trial last weekend, and it was like I'd never been away, awesome! Also got an old Fantic 200 which is ripe for restoration, that'll be the project over the next few months... Hopefully chat with some of you soon, Ben :-)
